First Time Poster: Twitching Questions

This is my first time posting any advise will really be appreciated Stared two month ago Twitching in left forearm and back of elbow about 6 to 10 times a day (mostly night)About three weeks later I will have them in my right forearm also but not as often three to 4 times a day, legs and thigh feel tingling and on a couple of occasions I have twitch in the calfAnd chest area all my twitches will last for about 30 second and if I move they will disappearNo muscle weakness cramps or pain Of course after using dr Google I am ready for the funny farm.My questions are does this sound like bfs For what I have read most of the people here twitch 24/7 And they twitch all over I also get this quick like electric shocks all over (are this mini twitches)Has anybody had this happen? Also I have seen some generalize inching and jerking of arms and leg at bed time needless to say that My anxiety level is really bad difficult sleeping or eating last two weeks Thanks in advance for any help jop

I would not call this BFS, it is too mild IMHO. 4-10 twitches per day? My wife has at least 50. Do you drink enough water? Try to go off caffeine also, it might help. However, this is basically how mine started. Elbow, arms, electric shocks feelings and in two weeks or so, I was twitching all over.

Hi jop, nope not all are twitching 24/7 - I am not already for a quite while ;) and therer are many other people who have only occasional twitches or twitch flareups but can have other symptomes...well up to now your twitches seem to be not sinister. Some of us have restless limbs symptomes (urge to move limbs, mostly legs at the night time), and almost all of us have or had typical sleeping jerks exagerrated (sleeping jerks are perfectly normal in healthy people but we might have that more prominent or more frequent than in general population).Generally best way is to bring all and every concern to a doctor (neuro). if neuro does not see anything bad, then you can consider that as a pure bening twitches.regardsYulia

Thanks for the quick reply I went to see my gp he ran a reflex and strength test and claim that I had anxiety and no need to see a neoro is there a time frame where I can expect more generalizeTwitching or hopefully to stop. I see that usual time between first twitch and all over is around two weeks or can my stay in a couple of spots for ever

cannot say something definete about time frame... usually twitches become generalised in about a month or a few weeks but if they did not - do not worry, it is very individual.

If your doctor looked you over, tested your strength and reflexes, etc.... then you should relax, my friend. You're O.K. Everyone gets muscle twitches from time to time. Most of us on this board have been dealing with widespread muscle twitching and other related benign, yet annoying stuff for a long time. I get the tingling and electric shock sensations. I started getting those before noticing twitches. I also get some wicked muscle cramps and spasms. As far as frequency and location go.... well we're all different. Mine started in my calfs. Then I started getting them in my face. Now I've got them just about everywhere. Some places are active most of the day. Others, just when I'm waking-up. Other spots come and go all together. I can't make any real sense of this. Probably the best advice that anyone can give you is to stay away from "Dr. Google." Doing internet searches on your symptoms will only fan the flames of anxiety. Your doctor says you're o.k.... take that to the bank!!!Good Luck!John

Thanks for the advise since that Google search I have being making myself sick every day I never heard of bsf so imagine the shock when I search and the first thing that came out was the a..Monster thank god this place exist and I was able to weather the storm , is funny how even a logical person will read between the lines and miss the facts , like clinical weakness need to be present, atrophy, reflex changes , staring in a toe or finger and moving upward with no return. How we get All this to equal muscle twitching is only a matter of googling and let your imagination andFears run amok

TwitchyMD - another man and wife both with BFS ?Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................Second time I've heard that.Ahhh the mysteries of the body.
