Finding Neurologist After 11 Months

Hi everyone I dont know if any of you remember from previous posts but I have never seen a neuro after 11 months and 3 days of twitching cramping and pain but I finally get to go. My husband finally agreed to let me go so that I can put all of this to rest! He is totally convinced I am fine but has finally agreed to pay for it. I have been looking through the phone book for a neuro and I am a little confused do they usually have just md after there name or is there something else I should be looking for? Also there are neuro consultants and such. What should I be looking for specifically in regards to a neuro? I just want to make sure I get it right. Also have any of you had to insist on an emg because that is what I am after? How did it work out? I dont want to be denied the emg because that is what I believe will put my mind at ease. I am almost there now as far as thinking this is benign thanks to you all but I just need the proof. Thanks for any info, Barb

Hi!

I had to insist on the EMG/NCS. The neuro did not think it was warranted, but he knew I would not quit until I had the test. He believes my symptoms are anxiety related. He must be right. Good Luck.

I'm with Marcin, you definitely want to find a neuromuscular disease specialist. I would suggest looking up the local MDA (muscular dystropy asscociation), they should have highly qualified neuros in their dept. I'm of the belief that if you are going to go through the stress (mental) associated with the testing, you may as well see the most highly qualified dr available.

Good luck and let us know how it all turns out. After so many months, I'm sure you don't have anything serious, but I completely understand the need to be tested.

Good luck,
Gary

Thanks for the info! I will be looking up mda association. I will let you all know how it turns out! Oh and thanks for the reasurance Gary I really need it as this test scares me! Barb
