Fibromyalgia and BFS: Is it Possible?

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia almost 3 years ago, based on many other symptoms, such as perceived weakness, dizziness, numbness & tingling.

I did not have twitches until 3 months ago.

There seems to be an assumption here that I don't have BFS because of my diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. Isn't it possible to have both? My answer is yes. You list twitching as a primary symptom of Fibromyalgia, when in many medical circles it is not even considered a symptom.

Neither my GP nor my Neuro would tie the twitches to my Fibromyalgia. They just said that they were benign, without any other presenting symptoms of a MND.

My fears about my twitching are no different than anyone else's here.

I have been in a state of absolute fear and anxiety, believing with my entire being that I am dying of ALS...that I will not live to see my 4-month old son grow up!

So, please do not make me feel unwelcomed here. This forum has been about the only thing that has helped me keep sane over the past couple of weeks.

not trying to make anyone feel unwelcome at all - however if i had a diagnosis of some disease or condition, like fibro, thyroid issues, etc... that twitching was a symptom, that would explain my symptoms. I would not be at this forum because i would not have BFS...that is all i meant. i would be at the Fibromyalgia forums, etc....

SLL,

I still don't understand why you wouldn't be here. The twitching in Fibromyalgia is still considered to be benign fasciculations and unfortunately for me (and lucky for them), not very many people with Fibromyalgia experience the twitching (Statistics show around 15%). Thus, getting on a Fibromyalgia board does nothing for helping me deal with the twitching - which by the way, still gives me anxiety.

Fibromyalgia or not, I still find myself convinced I have ALS on a daily basis. Perhaps that is all related to my health anxieties, but it is REAL TO ME, nonetheless.

I appreciate this forum and the people on it soooooooooooo much! Thank you to those of you who have taken the time to respond. :D)
