Fears and Worries of Undiagnosed Illness

I quess I dont have to worry about this, because I dont have any weakness?

Are there ay other horrible diseases, that could cause these problems? I`m always afraid about having cancer, MS or ALS.

My main problem is fear and anxiety

Ok. Now I`m 100% sure about having MS. I just read symptoms of MS, and I`ve had them all!
Like vision problems: week ago my left eye was "blurred" whole day. Then went away.

Muscle tension, cramps...Oh yes, I have them

Pins and needles etc: Had them for 4 months. gone now.

HEEELP!!!

miika-slow down, deep breath. This does not sound like ms. Trust me, I know. (Read my history if you so desire as I'm starting to get bored of re-telling my story ad nauseum.)

The vision problems associated with ms don't go away after a day, and blurred vision isn't what occurs. With ms, you get severe eye pain, double vision (and it is unquestionable, you actually see double for a prolonged period of time of days or months unless you receive treatment.) Or you would get a visual field cut, meaning an entire portion of your vision in one eye would be blinded. This would persist for weeks or months until the brain lesions responsible for it would retreat. ms is caused by physical brain lesions (like tumors) on your brain. The lesions stay put and therefore the symptoms do not wax or wane during the course of a day.

Cramping and twitching are also not common in ms.

All of your symptoms are consistent with bfs. I've had them all.

I've been in your shoes and I understand.

Hope this helps...

Please be in peace. Prayers are coming your way.

Don't worry, these twitches are all par for the course with BFS.

I have them absolutely everywhere. woke up this morning with a twitching throat! not the best way to start a new year. However, I have made a New Year's resolution that i am not going to waste any more time on my anxiety issues

Urinary problems do not figure with als and twitching does not figure with ms. both, however, can be present with a generalised neuropathic condition.

Steve, who contributes regularly, has a website dedicated to peripheral nerve hyper-exciteability (PNH) If you look through it, i'm sure you will identify with it. I felt so much better after I had checked it out because before, i felt all my symptoms could only lead to one diagnosis. here is the address

Mate, you're 24, in the UK there is no-one in your age group diagnosed with the disease you are freaking about in the last five years (I can post you the statistical data if you want, that's how much of a sad, geeky nerd I am :) )

Make a deal with yourself not to allow fear and anxiety rule your life. You only have the one and it would be such a shame to waste time on worrying about an illlness you do not have

Happy 2006, God bless, Julia

What means "generalised neuropathic condition"? Is it something serious?Do not understand...

And yeah I have some kind of controversy with my symptoms. Other ones are MS related, other ones ALS. Cant be that unlucky to have both of them!

I dont remember if I said it already, but I`ve been diagnosed as a psychosomatic disorder sufferer, and anxiety. I`ve had all the symptoms in a world during last couple of years. Not only BFS, ALS, MS related symptoms, but everything...just name it, I`ve had it.

So, maybe this is just my anxiety manifesting itself this way again? Honestly, I think I have to have some symptom...

Miika,

I'm not a physician, but you really should see someone about your anxiety. It sounds like perhaps you have done that in the past. If you get your anxiety under control, your symptoms will improve. When I get stressed, it usually bothers my stomach, just sort of upset. For other people, it drives them into a major twitching, cramping, etc. episode. There are many ways to address anxiety be it medication, counseling, meditation, exercize, whatever. Different things work for different people. Even if your anxiety didn't go completely away, wouldn't it be great if it dropped 50%? Not saying it's easy or that you're not trying, just that if you hit the anxiety directly, you will be killing many birds with one stone. Hang in there.

Hi Mikka

My name is Chris and i am from the UK Northumberland. i too have the problems you have. The pains in my legs and arm have almost gon due to taking a drug called Diclofenac sodium. they take a while to work (A week or two) but do help. I think my BFS started due to anxiety and like you I was worried. This site will help you to calm down and things will improve once you stop worrying.

Good luck
Chris Sewell
