Fasciculations - Common Here?

Hi,just curious. I have fasciculations on and off in all limbs, neck, trunk (back, abdominal muscles) and face. This is common here? I do not have any hotspots, though.

That is my twitches: all limbs, some back and stomach, some face. I use the term ubiquitous, though they are not always happening all at once.

You just described my twitches as well, and thanks to you and a couple of our other fellow BFSers I am now experiencing tongue twitches on a daily basis, LOL. The power of suggestion is just scary I swear.

Its ok Rob, I wasnt referring to you personally, just everyone and there brother I'm talking to rite now is having some pseudo bulbar issue. Guess its my turn as it appears to be a right of passage to becoming a full blown BFSer (must have bulbar scare), but I'm coping, no worries, but I have to agree with all who have had to go through this, it is no picnic whatsoever  But as with many other waxy wainy symptoms with BFS, I have to assume, this too shall pass :D) (I hope, LOL) Take careRobynn :D)

Twitchydoc, I also have widespread fasiculations along with many hotspots. Do not worry this is a good sign my neuro muscular specialist assured me that widespread twitching is not indicative of nmd. Robbie, Sorry to hear you are leaving the board so quickly I will miss you but I am glad you are feeling better. Twitchydoc don't worry, Robbie take care and don't forget about us.Mary

Thanks all!SmartMister: yeah that is generally accepted that fasciculations which are not located within one nerve root without weakness are most likely to be benign. I do know that the pathology of motor neuron diseases is that it begin focally and then spreads up and down across the spinal cord. By the way, the leading theories dealing with MND point out that this kind of spreading suggest spreading of some damaged protein that reacts on the anterior horn cells and causes apoptosis (hope its in english correct), ie. cell death. So I know you are right what you have been told...I wish I did not read the article that was posted on Experience with BFS. I knew there were exception, like in everything..just do not want to read about it.mommyLDN,robbie: I find it quite interesting that we developed that tongue twitch after some time of limb/trunk involvement and I am happy we are sharing the same pattern without anything bad.I am going to check my thyroid gland as, together with hypercalcemia (yes, not hypo), can cause especially tongue fasciculations though nearly no neuroligst is aware of that.Docen
