Fasciculations caused by L5/S1 nerve compression or BFS?

Speaking as a chiropractor, I would say that nerve root compression can cause muscle fasciculation in some cases. I have seen it several times. what's more, a colleague of mine who is an orthopedic surgeon specialising in spinal surgery agrees with me. We discussed this a couple of years ago when I showed him my fasciulations. He commented that he often sees fasciculations in nerve root compression.

Now please don't take it that nerve root compression is the answer in all cases of fasciculations, but I do believe that it is worth considering, especially if there is a history of back/ leg symptoms for example in cases of leg fasciculation. An MRI scan can often show abnormalities that could provide a clue as to why the fasciculations are present.

Hope that helps,
