Fasciculation Worries: Help?

I'm posting this again because it seems to have disappeared. Thank you to the person who did reply, though. If I tap on my left hand, it will fasciculate, especially if it is flexed. The muscle on the pinkie side of my hand will flex and all the fingers move. My thumb will also twitch if tapped. I have read that fasciculations in a relaxed muscle were benign, so this is freaking me out. Also when I stretch my left hand out really hard, palm side up, the pinkie side muscle caves in. Anyone have input?Does this happen to anyone else? I'm still a week away from my EMG and I'm not passing the time very well.Becky

This happens to a lot of people. I for one can cause my facial muscles to twitch just by blinking my eyes or sneezing really hard. There's nothing ominous about it at all.Remember, just because you read "twitches in relaxed muscles are benign", that doesn't mean that twitches in non relaxed muscle are non benign. That's the sort of the reverse logic that you really need to avoid with BFS. Just because you read that X=1, that doesn't necessarily mean that Y=2. People fall into this trap when they read the internet and scour medical websites all the time.Without weakness or atrophy, twitches are meaningless. It doesn't matter where they happen, how they happen, or what you are doing when they happen. All they mean is that your body is p*ssed off at you about something. :D)

Thanks for your reply. Apparently the dent along the pinkie side of my hand is a palmaris brevis spasm. As far as I can google (LOL) it has nothing in common with the dreaded disease.

Hi Becky,How are you doing today? Hope youre felling better. As I can recall, your emg is next week, please do me me a little favor, could you? DONT GOOGLE ANYTHING, EVER!!!Darling, please trust me, Dr. Google doesnt has anything good for you.BTW ¿ Did you bought the bottle of wine, for your next week celebration ?Keep StrongEduardo

I have had the palmaris brevis spasm on my left hand 24/7 for many, many months. It's the only symptom that I can show a doctor on command. Swift_TaySwift20 and another member (I believe his name starts with an m and is from South America) has it too. The muscle contracts in and out without stopping. It causes no pain or impairment of function but is an obvious sign that something is not right. THe other twitches I feel and see but not with the consistency of the one on my hand.
