Eyelid Twitching: My Story

Just curious. How many of you on here are eyelid twitchers? How long? How bad is it? My left upper eyelid has twitched for over a year now. Almost everyday although it has varied in intensity and duration. 6 months ago or so it moved into my right eye as well. The right eyelids aren't as bad as the left. So basically in some capacity all 4 eyelids twitch. I do twitch everywhere else, but they are not as annoying and bothersome to me. Am I the worst and longest eyelid twitcher on here? Seems like most people talk about and worry about other spots on the body. Those dont even faze me! Thanks in advance for your support!Jim

Mine started last March and were awful for months. At the height i could make them happen by just blinking hard. Both lids on both eyes. Neuro says they don't count as fasciculations and not to worry about them.I still get them but not as badly as i did although recently they came back.

Thanks guys. They dont make me afraid. I just hate them and they are so annoying. At this point I am giving up hope that they will ever go away.

For sure....everyone I know has had them....just not almost everyday for a year. Mine have definitely gotten a work out. My eyes should be strong enough to run a marathon!

This is my 14th month of eye twitching on a daily basis for me. It started from upper left eyelid and then at some point all eyelids were involved for some time but not as consistent as the left eye. The last 4-5 months has moved to the lower eyelid with occasional twitches of the upper. So basically there is no single day the last 14 months that my left eye has stopped twitching. I also get a slight right eyebrow twitch and random cheek and neck twitches as well as calves and feet. I know it's not ALS, I have for a long time now but I am not completely convinced that it's not blepharospasm or some dystonia. My left has become a bit dry so I do blink more often I guess.

Aztec.....Ironically your story is identical to mine. We even started around the same time. Since I last posted at the beginning of the month.....my eyebrows have joined in too. Not one day has gone by without an upper left eyelid twitch for me. I often think I have BEB as well.....thr only thing that says maybe not is that I twitch everywhere else in my body. After 14 months this twitching has gotten much worse. I hope it plateau's or slows down. It seems progressive to me.

Hi twitchydds, I don't really know what to make out of this. Right now, I have accepted that it will never stop. Sometimes it seems to slow down a bit but it is always on a daily basis. Lately I have also some twitches in the right eye, also the cheek and the eyebrow. Not simultaneously and not as persistent and regular as the left eye. From this point it looks progressive to me. But then I am thinking that the upper left eyelid where all started has stopped now. If it was truly progressive I would expect that they would all play out simultaneously. Well, let's see...

My BFS started with left eyelid twitch, before going bodywide. The eye twitches have come and gone over the course of 8+ years. None of you are the worst or longest eye twitcher....not by a long shot. Look up the member "sparksense" and read all his posts from start to finish (if you're interested). He had severe eye twitching for several years and I believe botox injections helped to some degree, but my memory is fuzzy.
