Eyelid Twitching: My Story

Hi everyone,

I"ve had twitches on & off for over a year now -- they mostly affect my limbs. For the last week, my left eyelid has been twitching like crazy, and sometimes it looks like it's a bit dropped. Has anyone had this experience? I've had a blood test for myasthenia gravis, but it was negative. I'm not even sure eyelid twitching is a symptom of that, but I know that a dropped eyelid is.

Thanks,

kate

Eyelid twitching is the most strange thing for me. My left eyelid had been twitching a long before all this BFS occured. It lasted about two months (come and go eyelid only twitching) and stoped. One year later I started to twitch all over.

Now, during BFS period, I had months when my eyelid twitched from time to time (like other muscles) but I also had periods when my eyelid have been twitching NON-STOP for 2-3 weeks.

Strange, but last two months my eyelids didn't twitch at all.

regards
Marcin

My left eyelid has been twitching almost non-stop for 3 weeks. It drives me nuts. Wish it would stop already. Doctor says not to worry about it, but it clearly means that the nerve there is aggravated at least, or something like that, right?

Is your eye lid actually dropped or does your eyebrowe sag down over your eye lid? Since many facial muscles are attached to skin gravity works against them and can pull the skin down. Common with age or...

When we are stressed and tired it shows up in our facial muscles more than we think and in times of stress we tend to have stressed facial expressions without even knowing it. Frowning, grmicing, squinting etc..

Try this facial exercise: place your fingers just under your eyebrows and your palms flat against your face. Push the eyebrowes gently up and outward and try to squint. The squinting acts as isometric resistance.
Do it 3 times for ten seconds each. On the second set, close your eyes.
You will immediately see that the browe will temporarily lift.

After doing this simple exercise for a while the skin and eye muscles will have better tone. Got this tip from my wife who if four years older than I and looks ten years younger than I do.

Good to hear you don't have MG!
