Exploring Hypermobility and BFS

I am for sure from childhood on, it was impossible not to recocnize that. I just read here that there might be a connection between hypermobility and BFS. Any others here (robynn???).

Am I hypermobile??? Hmmm...I'm not really sure I understand the meaning of that word fully but I can do some this thing with my hands that others around have never been able to do and my mother used to say I was double jointed when I showed her so I dont know :D) Other then that....I do not seem to be a very flexible person :LOL:But I just googled the symptoms of Hypemobility and I had nearly every single one on the list

Yes,double jointed would be the english expression for it i just googled it. I'm double jointed in my hands, arms, legs and feet, I can really do weird stuff with these, especially with my hands and fingers. But I'm completely stiff when it comes to my back....Haha, robynn, I just knew you would be.

I am! Just went to a specialist not that long ago, he told me to be careful when doing activity's. My joints are so loose and flexible, my arm bends backward so far. This helped me with my years of dance and cheerleading though :)

Yes, you should be very careful with your joints. The revenge for being hypermobile and doing weird stuff with jour joints will come when you're older. I was just curious as on Emilyomouse websites I never read about a link between hypermobility/BFS and Fibromyalgie, and here I find a lot about it.

I am also double jointed or hyper mobile...andi have paid for it in the last few years I also have arthritis and fibromyalgia....

That's really bad. It's kind of sad. If physical education teachers woult have a look on it (and it's sooo easy to see) they could tell children how they have to do sports and behave in daily life so they would not have to live with pain when they grow up...I have no arthritis yet, but joints feel achy sometimes.

Maybe here we go for the link between it:"In 1998, a study was done concerning the link between panic disorder with joint hypermobility. The prevalence of panic disorder among patients with joint hypermobility syndrome was 67.7% compared to the control psychiatric group (10.1%). Women and subjects who were younger were found to be over 20 times more likely to have the hypermobile joints than their counterparts in the control group. "And there sure enough is a link between anxiety and BFS.I just had a look at their forum and what do they do? They are double jointed and..have pain, felt stiffness, numness, needles and pins, twitch, anxiety, tremor and jerk.......for some, it justs seems to go hand in hand. But in fact, it doesn't make a difference it it's both or if HMS led to BFS , there's no other treatment than anxiety control and sometimes pain reliefers. Tegretol got my twitching almost down to zero, but hasn't done anything for the restexcept my tremors. I'm not too sure if I will keep taking it.
