Exploring Causes of Twitching: PHN?

I was skimming thru the archives and read a topic from Jenn about PHN.
Could someone tell me what that is?
She discusses how she doesn't think anxiety is the cause of twitching and I think in some cases shes right but I believe mine is from some form of stress. I was a COMPLETELY healthy person until my brother passed away 7 years ago from cancer at 25.....after that it started with immense panic attacks....years later it moved to severe IBS.....and now it has moved to BFS.....all of which are so called syndromes.
I have had every test (EKG, colonoscopy, MRI, EEG, elaborate blood tests)
and all came back normal.
After I had a colonoscopy I immediately began to adapt to my stomach problems but I'll have to admit that these neurological problems are harder to adapt to.
I know I am a MAJOR hypochondriac, and I fight it tooth and nail everyday. The other night my husband was falling asleep and a muscle in his leg was twitching like crazy and I said to him "don't you feel that?"
And he said " I feel it all the time but I don't focus on it." And my sister says her face and lips go numb all the time...tingle...blah...blah...blah.
I think there are many reasons why we twitch...and everyone is different.
I have thought all night that I have a tumor in my head because I'm trying to get over a cold and the left side of my head hurts and is sensitive to touch!
I focus on myself a little too much.
I'm in a band and when I'm on stage or at band practice I never experience these symptoms. It's only when I'm at home. Ain't that somethin?
Sorry this is so long...but if you don't think anxiety has to do with it then why is stress the leading cause of pretty much all diseases?
Anxiety comes from stress.....panic comes from anxiety....anxiety does cause many unwanted physical symptoms.
Now how do we get rid of them??????!!!!!????!!!!!??????!!!!???
Wish I knew the answer to that.

PHN is related to shingles.

As for your anxiety and stress. Both of these are huge factors in BFS. My Neurologist told me that anxiety and/or stress will make BFS so much worse. It has something to do with the excess oxygen (from breathing too fast due to anxiety) in your blood creating some kind of calcium that attaches to muscle neurons and accentuates the twitches.

I'm responding to you because my time-line is similar. I started out with serious hypochondria which turned into panic attacks, general anxiety and was just recently diagnosed with BFS.

My Neuro told me stress can cause many symptoms all by itself, without any disease whatsoever.

As for how to get rid of the stress/anxiety. You already have the answer!

Do you know why this is? It's because your mind is completely concentrating on something other than yourself. I find that I twitch less, stress less and feel better when I have something to DO or something to concentrate on.

When you are at home find something to concentrate on, play an enthralling computer game, watch a great movie, lol.

Honestly, think about yourself less and other things more and you'll find your symptoms bother you less.
