Exploring Acupuncture Results

Had some good therapeutic sessions with acupuncture. The problems I had with it; totally dependent on who the AP is (acupuncture physician), it isn't covered on insurance, it is done in a series (1 session isn't enough to get the best results). When symptoms were really bad for me I tried several AP's - most were associated with a therapist's office I was going to in an effort to deal with muscle strains and stuff; less than half of them had positive effects. It seems a bit like physical therapy in that way - the therapist is very important, how they listen and connect to the patient, how involved they are in your treatment, etc, all seem to be important points. I asked one I like how it could be that some had no effect and he said that all are not trained the same (he was trained in China) and even the ones trained traditionally may be reluctant to maximize treatment on patients here (in the US) because people are less familiar with the therapy. All in all I would go back to 2 out of the 5 I saw as they did help calm things down for me and I felt better after sessions for a day or so - it is enough to get you past a bad episode of symptoms in other words. Let me know if you go and how it turns out. I strongly suggest you do a free consultation first and ask questions before laying down any cash - if you are not open-minded about it and don't feel comfortable with the AP it won't be much help.
