Experiencing Same Symptom? You're Not Alone

Yes- mine is my right leg though...and my right calf is definitely smaller but it's my non-dominant leg. I'm a crazy leftie.

I think the constant twitching aggravates the nerves which causes the pain and stiffness

Oh one more thing...try some Aleve or Ibubrofen. Or, try the Hylands leg cramp all natural stuff- seems to work on this also. I actually took it yesterday after being in a lot of pain and then ran my fastest mile ever on the treadmill last night (that isn't to say it didn't hurt after but it does seem better)

Elin, mine is my left calf. I have that constant crampy feeling in it. If there is a day where it does not feel crampy, the muscle feels flabby when I walk. Two EMG's later, nothing confirmed except Bening Cramp Fasciculation Syndrome. I also get pain in the left thigh and left foot/ankle. I have posted on here about "something being wrong with the left side of my body." I also have trouble with my left hand. So, to answer your question, I have problems with one side of my body. I get fasciculations all over, weakness all over. However most of my pain and discomfort is on my left side.

Hello,
It's pretty common for one limb to be a bit different in size from the other. My left calf is about 1/2 inch larger than my left. My left foot is more painful than my right but my right calf gives me more trouble than my left. See its different for everyone..... No weakness except for my own perceived weakness from time to time and twitches vary from day to day. Please try not to worry. Have a good day.

Thank you so much for your encouraging answers. I always feel so much better after reading that somebody else feels the same.
I`ve been reading this forum for two years and it made me go through this time without going crazy...

Is it down the back of your thigh, outside of your calf, or wrapped around foot into heel? If it's all of the above or just one part - it could be sciatica. I've had sciatica on and off (actually it's what started all of this off) and my family doc thinks that I have a pinched nerve in my back which also causes the buzzing/tremors in my leg(s) and feet because they are more prominent in the leg that gets the pain. It's very possible. Sciatica is nasty - and it's usually down one leg. I have had it down the side of my thigh too . Lasts for a few days and with gentle exersize and stretching eventually eases up.

oh and by the way... my physical therapist said that a pinched nerve causing sciatica CAN cause weakness and atrophy even though it's gradual. Nerves supply the muscle and so you become weaker, thus the muscle becomes smaller, and the leg ends up measuring less than the right. She also said she'd never seen anyone with two identical sides to their body and not to hyperanalyse the differences. :)

Elin,
I am too going through the exact same thing you are mentioning. I have a pretty much constant pain in my left thigh for the last couple months. It's not severe but it is almost always present. It's like a tight almost crampy feeling that feels like it needs to be stretched out, but can't be. My left quad and calf are also markedly smaller than my right (but I am right handed), and my left leg twitches more than my right as well.

I have had BFS for the last 5 years and am still going strong. I chalk this episode up to just another new symptom, which will eventually be replaced by something completely different in a month or so. My BFS is good like that, just when you get bored of a symptom, it changes things for you.

In the interm I have found that ibuprofin does help alot, so I guess it can't be anything too serious. LOL. Good luck, and keep your chin up.
