Experiencing Possible BFS Symptoms

Hello,I am 28 year old female who has been experiencing what I believe to be BFS symptoms for the past nearly 7 months. I would greatly appreciate any feedback that can be given cocerning my symptoms and if they seem like BFS.Symptoms include:A monthly alternation between burning, stinging, prickly, itchy sensations on skin and a crawley-itch sensation under the skin. The crawley sensations stop with movement but the stinging, etc. sensations do not. Sometimes the crawley sensations will feel like a bunch of ants crawling in one area or one ant crawling in random places all over body. I have no muscle pain or cramps. The only pain felt is during the stinging burning sensation cycle. In addition to these symptoms, I have muscle twitches some light and some heavy and body jerks (the jerks mostly happen when I'm lying in bed trying to fall asleep). I have been under a lot of stress over the past year and a half. Before I experienced all these symptoms, I was experiencing other symptoms unrelated to these (lump in throat, breathing difficulty-which went away after some months). I'm very frustrated that I continue to battle health issues. The most frustrating part about my current symptoms is that they are interrupting my sleep. When I don't sleep I feel worse. I also feel worse around my menstrual cycle. What I have done about my symptoms:I've seen a general doc, an allergist, a dermatologist, and a neurologist. I have no allergies except to dust mites. My bloodwork came back clear. I had an MRI which also came back clear. My neurologist did not feel that it was anthing serious after his office test and the MRI results. I have not had an EMG but currently do not have insurance to have one as I just moved from one state to another. I've taken antihistamines to help sleep, valerian root, lunesta, melatonin, and hydroxine...none of these have really helped much. I've been taking B-vitamin supplements and magnesium, which also have not worked. The only thing that helped me sleep better than anything else I tried was xanax (.5mg). I'm out of the xanax and do not have a current doc or insurance to get more. I was taking it for about two months. The cycle:My symptoms stated 10-4-07. During the first month I have two 3 day cycles in which symptoms were gone. I also had a two and a half week span in which symptoms were gone that month (after take an oral steriod, which I took again later and did not help). During month 2 I had only one 3 day cycle in which there were no symptoms. During month 3 through 6 I had no remissions whatsoever. This current month I've had some days in which symptoms have been better but no gone. I also have had some restful nights with no medications. I'm tired of getting my hopes up and then nothing really goes away. This is the most stupid thing I have ever dealt with on a physical level. I'm also driving my husband crazy. Do my symptoms sound relevant or am I wasting my time here? I've done so much research on the internet and this is my best conclusion as doctors have not been much help.

Hi there, your symptoms pretty much fit BFS. I have had the twitching since Sept. 4, 2007. I also have some muscle pain. I have autoimmine thyroid disease and feel my symptoms are somehow connected to that. Have you had your thyroid tested? Insomnia is a symptom of thyroid problems...usually suggests hyper, bur sometimes can occur with hypo as well. Just a thought and welcome to the forum.Linda
