Experiencing Benign Muscle Twitches

Hi,I havent posted for a while to this section, I have simple question - in Wikipedia and on MedHelp doctors often say benign twitches go away when the muscle work, also when you move it.I doubt its absolutely true - some of mine go away, but those hotspots twitch still, maybe a bit less when the muscle is flexed, but still twitch. What about yours?THanks

I do not have hard twitches, just sometimes, not everyday (almost 4 years). The twitches usually tend to cease when I move my muscle. But I think it is not a rule in BFS.Best wishes!

I have one in my left elbow that only stops when the muscle is tightened hard. I do have an Ulnar Palsy in that elbow so I am hoping that is the cause.....

Mine cease to when muscle is stretched out or in use...HOWEVER, my neuro told me some twitches come DEEP DEEP down in muscles DEEP down and there is no way you can flex that muscle to make it stop twitching so dont panic if it doesnt cease. I had asked the same b/c mine dont twitch when in use or if I flex or stretch them..but again I dont think it means a thing if they keep going when you do stretch them b/c there are TONS of feet twitchers on here w/ BFS whom feet go constantly and never stop and they have nothing but BFS.Lovely

Yeah, when I flex my muscle hardly, of course it doesnt twitch - maybe it twitch but we cant see and feel it? Random twitching I can "destroy" by moving or excersising, but not hotspots going for weeks.Today Im getting a lot of random ones in my back, butt, thigs...pretty annoying

Everything stops when my muscles are worked both twitching and parasthesias. Also, it stops or mostly does when riding in the car (must be the vibration)

My fascics do not always stop when flexing or stretching too. It used to scare me , but not anymore. I asked the same question a few months ago and it is quite common to have fascis on flexed muscles. Indeed I also was concerned about this apparent violation of the "if its benign it will stop when you flex" rule, but this is not much of a rule it seems. I've had fascics for 1 year and a half, normal EMGs, normal clinicals, normal everything. Don't worry Savanturn.

No Chris, all my stops after moving or stretching, but not the hotspots. If I twitch somewhere (like my foot), I can see it even if its flexed. The same Laurent :)

I had one in my inner thigh a couple of weeks ago that didn't stop when I flexed my knees together to tighten the thigh muscles up, so I am guessing that that one must have been deep, deep inside the muscle as one replier in this thread indicated about muscles going very deep in some areas, whereas when I flex my feet, which constantly drive me mad with the sometimes continuous twitching, they stop until I relax the muscle in whichever foot is fasciculating. Eric

before i started experiment with different herbal and medical solutions one way that helped me fall asleep was to move/shake my legs around. my twitches first started in the soles of my feet and i noticed if i flexed and relax my feet over and over the twitches would go away.moving around isn't as successful today as it was in the past. back then the twitches were on the level of ripples, now the whole muscle jerks.

Well, hard to tell in my case, as my twitches aren't continuous and don't stay in one place. What I can tell is that I have noticed a twitch during a movement. I go to the gym twice a week where I do some general workout involving more or less all muscles, so I guess I would have noticed if I had twitches during movements or in strained muscles.I only had one episode that really seems to proove that my twitches cease when using the muscle: I had twitches in the inner side of my left wrist, and they went on for maybe 30 seconds. Then I moved the wirst and the fingers, and the twitching ceased. After that, I put my hand to rest and the twitching started again. Soon after that the twitching in that place disappeared completely by itself.

Hi,I just posted the same question. It happened to my just now that, while I walked, the back muscle of my upper right leg had twitched/fasciculated.This scared my almost to death as I had it never before. How oftern does it happen with you and in which area? Please reply, thx

Hi,This my thread is almost 2 years ago and you can see Im still here :) I dont think benign fasciculations always disappear when the muscle is moved - mine disappear only when its hardly contracted and its just that they are not seen/felt but I guess there are still there.Remember that not every movement that you do with (for example) thumb activates the muscle you are looking at...
