Exercising and BFS - A Personal Experience

Interesting point. I suspect that the (unknown) causes of BFS probably vary, and we all might have different reactions to increased exercise. I exercise regularly, but since my arms are the worst, I sometimes have to back off things like pushups for a few days. A few weeks ago, I was trimming hedges with a heavy power trimmer on a pole. The next day, my forearms were aching and twitching. Now I’ve been trying Lipoic acid, and the twitching seems to be decreasing, but its too soon to tell for sure. This weekend, I built a large firewood shed, and did a lot of lifting of heavy lumber and hammering. Thought for sure I’d be feeling it today, but I feel fine… we’ll see.

Cheers,
Bill

Silas I agree that excercise reduces stress which can sometimes in turn reduce twitching. I've tried to quantify twitching reduction in short periods of time when I think I've reduced it. It's weird though, sometimes the twitching will increase when you expect it to have decreased. This will happen without any reason really, so just be aware of that and don't be alarmed when the twitching increases when you expect the opposite. It's bound to happen sometime.

I am just the opposite. Although I feel much better mentally after exercise, my twitches increase quite a bit.

If I lift or do hand grips, my hands and arms twitch relentlessly after. If I do squats or ride the stationary bike, my leg twitches explode. If I lay off the exercise for a while, my twitches greatly diminish.

It is weird how people can be impacted so differently by this thing.

I know what you're saying migo. Often when I work out my shoulders real hard with shoulder presses, bench, etc. later that day I will have more localized twitches in that area. But I think that doing regular excersize (more along the lines of cardio) will sometimes seem to reduce the overall amount of twitching in my body. Probably because it reduces stress to some degree which I'm sure that it does that.
