Excessive Twitching: Smoking or Stress?

So I had a couple month break, sort of. The twitching stopped for the most part and I just had to deal with sensory issues, tingly legs etc. I did notice things got better, much better, when I quit smoking. But then I started up again and the twitching came right back. Not sure if it's the smoking, or the stress associated with why I started smoking again. I can tell you that it is a major flare though. Just as bad as when I first got it. I have a neuro appointment on the 22nd. I'll let you all know what's up. It's been 8 months and I've gained about 15lbs so I doubt it's anything sinister. That's what I keep telling myself anyway ;). *beep*!, and just when I thought they were gone.

You're a smart guy so you know what smoking does to circulation -- but in case you've been in avoiding the facts here's a site to remind youThe whole idea of circulation being involved (see the post on MS) or even the reason for our condition is not far-fetched. We already know that there is a connection as most have reported feeling better when active - worse when sedentary, worse when resting or sleeping, better when up and around. Even if you look at it as poor circulation exacerbating a condition that already exists, it is something to consider. Well, sorry to see you back and freaked - hope things improve for you.

I'm surprised you are even going back to a neuro. You know it's not ALS right? If your twitching stopped, then came back you know it's not anything bad. I actually gave up doctors for awhile. After my last visit of having a normal exam, normal bloodwork, and a normal MRI I thought it was time to give it a rest and you know what? I felt my anxiety drop big time. I think going to doctors over & over and having test after test made things worse. I know you are fine cause pretty much everyone here is. I wish you the best of luck though. I'm sure you neuro appointment will turn out just fine.

From my own perspectice, if I'm twitching in 8 months and nothing has occured prior. Who cares!!! But that is me right now where I'm at. I know everyone is different on this. But really think about it. You have been twitching for eight months without any physical change, except for gaining weight, which could be considered a good thing. It is virtually impossible that there is anything wrong with you other than stress/anxiety. IMPOSSIBLE. Start livin' man!!! :p

I had the follow up scheduled before this and am just keeping the appointment. As far as anxiety I don't beleive that. I do live just fine. I go to work, exercise, eat right, have lots of dates, good friends, not too much worry and they are still here. Definitley something physical and not mental. ALS, prob not. But it's not all in my head and for those that have brain washed yourselves in to beleiving that are the crazy ones. Just because it won't kill you , doesn't mean it isn't real.
