Examining Muscle Spasms

Hello,How would you work up people presenting to your practice with muscle twitches, spasms and sensory symptoms. Would you be exhaustive or dismissive, or dismissive after being exhaustive :).
 
Bloodwork for electrolyte imbalances, thyroid function, heavy metals and EMG + MRI if none was done before. MRI only if the sensory symptoms are suggestive of some disease process, EMG to be sure nothing is going on axon/anterior horn cell levels or to distinct between myopathic and neurogennic processes.Some neuros, as mentioned by some new members here, want to repeat EMG in 6 months to be sure, that depends..
 
I do not think ANA is standard part of initial blood screening. Vitamin B,D should be included as both affect neuromuscular activity.
