EMG Test Anxiety: Sunday Night

I am posting this on Sunday night because I am rather restless. My first EMG, and hopefully the end of this madness. I am really suffering now, but I am trying to keep my head together with thoughts like - You are 19 with no family history of ***, etc. Please keep me in your thoughts on Monday, the 18th at 1:30PM EST. I will update everyone as soon as I get out.

Also...I have one more question...

1. With bulbar ***, I have read that almost everyone experiences problems with speech first. I intially presented with widespread twitching; Does this make absolutely ANY sense that that is what it could possibly be?? I am almost 4 months into twitching, and only for the last few weeks have I been having the swallowing and speech difficulties. Now it feels like everytime I swallow, I can hear and feel the liquid go down s-l-o-w-l-y.

Thanks again

What you are describing is very common. It even happens to me-I can feel the food go down very slowly. Sometimes it stops and I have to drink something to make it go down. You will be fine Mon--just concentrate on after the emg and how happy & relieved you will be!!!

You're going to be fine. Been there, done that several times. I know very well what you're going through.

First of all, ALS in the teens is almost unheard of even among ALS specialists. couple that with your lack of progression etc. and your odds are so in your favor you should be walking into that EMG whistling a very happy tune.

You've got anxiety, not ALS. Of course I'm not a doctor but I feel very strongly that without any real weakness by now and your other considerations you're in very fine shape.
