EMG Results Confirmed Denervation

So my emg results were too vague for me so I HAD to speak to the neuro. I shouldn't have. He confirmed denervation in all limbs BUT tells me it can all be explained by discs and nerves in my back. Said physical therapy will help and to take b12. He just figured since he feels confident that it's a back issue there was no reason up give so much detail. They ran an upper motor neuron test and said there were no signs whatsoever. rNo explanation of twitches and I've got really no other symptoms except muscle soreness. He have me the name of a specialist and I made an appt. I thought this was over I wish I hadn't pushed for info. My twitches are crazy now all over getting worse by the hour

I'm annoyed that he pretty much discounted anxiety as causing the twitches. I have scheduled PT for Wednesday. I'm supposed to go to the other neuro next Tuesday but I don't know whether to do it yet or not. If I could wait I would bc suddenly not knowing sounds better. I've already been told it's not *** so why push?

He also didn't tell me to see a specialist, I had mentioned getting my records for a second opinion as a possibility and he said that was a fine idea and gave me a name of one he recommends. He also told me I didn't need another emg in the future unless I wanted it. He really must believe it's not that. He said he can see where it's all coming from. I'm confused

I'm going to the dr to see about anxiety med Thursday. Seeing a therapist but not sure about that helping. PT starts tomorrow and I'll look into some type of meditation. Thanks for encouragement

Hopefully some medication and physical therapy will help you in the long run.I know many of us have benefitted from this:I have a CD in German which guides me through tensing/relaxing each muscle. Here is one free audio clip from a doctor in the US (English):Just in case you want to try. There are many CDs and versions to PMR. I think also on youtube. I can count on it to bring me at least one level down.

Linda, Keep an open mind about the therapy. There is some kind of OCD component to this. I say this without any judgement, I totally understand how you feel. Find a very good therapist and tell them honestly how you worry and obsess. Many of us have been or are there, or are in the process of learning about this and recovering. It does seem that this is something many of us do to ourselves. In your case, there may also be an element of PTSD, trauma for what you witnessed your husband go through, and the trauma it was on yourself. This bfs is a cruel mind trick indeed it is, and it seems to be a complex mind-body thing. Best.

I'm just so worried about the denervation in 4 limbs. No one wants to hear this. He said he sees where it begins in nerve roots not spinal cord. But he said sensory and motor. I thought motor was spinal cord. The how is he supporting diagnosis?

Dear LKP,as yours, also mine EMG was not clear. But I was mainly testet one limb. I went yesterday to a neuro and asked her about the results. She was telling me a few things which set me into panic mode. But in the end she said that I do definitely not have MND.Now I m sitting here and don't think about the latter sentence but what she said about anterior horn sells and referring deseases. What I wanted to say is, asking too much questions can be harmful (I knew this before but I did nevertheless). Every time the bad sentences stay closer to your ear than the positive ones.

Btw, I have also an ulnar nerve compression trauma. Both sides, left more than right. Do you have the referring symptoms, like burning ellbow, pain in wirst, numb 4th and 5th finger in the night or per day?

Hi, LPMetalhead, I was recently diagnosed with a few herniated discs in the cervical region. Still waiting on a lumbar MRI which insurance has yet to approve (but I do know, via x-ray, that there is some compression in the lumbar region.) Did your neurologist say that these disc issues cause the twitching as well as the denervation? I'm hoping that's behind mine but can't get a straight answer.

Confusing. That definitely sums up everything I've been through the last 5+ months. Each neurologist visit is a roller coaster of being told I may have one thing, them changing their minds, then coming back to it again. It was a chiropractor who eventually ordered the MRIs of my back (cervical only one done so far though) and he says these compressions, herniated discs, and spinal cord effacement that I've got could definitely cause these things. However, the general mistrust of chiropractors that is rampant in the "legitimate" medical community is clouding my ability to believe him.

Down deep inside I feel you are right. Just wish the rest of me would believe it. He's the only one who is willing to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. The neurologist just wants to get the appointment done as soon as he can. My chiropractor even checks my reflexes for me since I had non-existent triceps reflexes in my right arm (I do have a herniation at the C6/C7 that protrudes to the right which he says would cause that.)
