EMG & EEG Scheduled for 18th Dec

The Neurologist said that I would get my EMG done in about 6 weeks but I received a letter saying that I am to have my EMG & EEG on the 18th Dec.When I saw the neurologist I mentioned the limb (right leg) and the main areas that were giving me trouble, which at the time were the ankle and the right quadriceps, with the emphasis being on the ankle. She did some v.basic tests on my lower legs but nothing on the upper part of my legs. Well since the appointment the quad/leg area just above my right knee has got much, much worse. It aches all the time,is stiff, feels very weak and I am getting most of the twitches there now. Also when I try to balance on that leg it is becoming more and more difficult and I can feel the problem/weak area as that area in my upper leg. I have also have been getting increasingly constant pain/cramping sensations in my toes and foot.I am worried that because this area in my upper leg was not highlighted enough by me,when they come to do the EMG they will only test my lower leg and as a result they may miss anything sinister that is going on,especially in that area above my knee and the surrounding area. Does anybody think that I should get in touch of those doing the EMG via my GP/Neurologist to make sure that they test this area in order to make sure that nothing is missed? I am v.v.worried as even though the neurologist said she thought it was benign, the lack of any extensive tests by her,the increase in severity/location of my symptoms and my faliure to find anything that would explain why I have these symptoms in just one limb,is not helping me shake off my certainty that I still have ***.I have been looking up all the benign things I can find such as BFS,mineral dificiencies etc and nothing I come across explains why my symptoms would/could be so localized if they were something benign. It would seem that if it were something like that then not only should i be getting symptoms in other locations but that I should not be on a downward spiral, but have some days which are better than others.I have said it before and I'll say it again...... Things are not looking good!!!! :crying:

I cant see the problem - during the EMG, just ask the doc for testing any area you want to. I have done it and I will do it again. You know that with ALS there is upper and also lower motor neuron signs. They wouldnt miss it. BTW, if you lift your hands horizontally and close your eyes, normally nothings happens. Patients with lession in upper neuron cant do that, their hands fall.Calm down, I started with widespread twitching 1,5 year ago and now Im mainly localised. THe main thing is lack of weakness..your EMG is one day ofter mime, I hope we both will bring some good news here!

blizna, you have already done an emg which was clean. you would not need to do another one. my neuro from the als-clinic told me, i don't have to come back. you can already be reassured.

Noodle,The tests carried out by the neuro are not going to be extensive, complicated tests, the one i saw did little more than my GP!They know what they are doing bud, the impression i got from the guy that did my EMG was that a problem would show up wherever the test was carried out. They are clearly not concerned about you or they would have said so at your appointment, the reason that your EMG has been brought forward is proberbly due to a cancellation, this happened to me.Get yourself out of the house and try to forget about this for a few hours, the damage to your health because of all this worrying is far greater than whats happening to your leg.Nige
