Eight Years with BFS and Twitching

Hi guys. I like to stop by every now and again just to say hello as this forum and the kind people here helped me to get through a very tough period.So...Assuming I live until March, I will have had bfs for 8 years. As I type these words I can feel twitching in my calves which have been in a bag of worms state from day 1. I twitch everywhere! Yes my tongue twitches. Yes my hands, in my ears, neck, back - literally every muscle but I'm very fit and never went on to develop additional issues. Therefore - twitching is completely meaningless by itself. You should see a doctor if you suddenly start twitching BUT if that's your only problem don't be too concerned. Medications pregnancy thyroid exercise etc can all be the culprits. Many doctors have explained to me that Als patients don't show up talking about twitches - they show up with a hand or foot that is extremely weak with no recollection of a recent injury or back problem - also a cause of weakness/fascics.I feel stupid typing this bc there are sooo many similar posts many of which I've authored. Bottom line - hard to accept - twitching isn't going to kill you so please please please move on with your life. The fear of Als destroyed my life for years...don't let that happen to you ok.Mark

Mark,Thanks for your input. Having had this for 1 1/2 years now, I'm starting to relax more about it, but I remember in the beginning, how a post like this from someone who dealt with BFS for a long time, was worth its weight in gold.I really appreciate your thoughts and advise.Mitra

Tinkering around on BFS and the symptoms it bringd will never let it go, I'm sure of that. Just let it alone, TwitchBFS. But it's you decision, but I dont't think it will help you mentally.@MarknIm just living with i since nearly 11 months, thankfully i acceptes its benign after two month ajd stopped worrying (maybe every few weeks for a few minutes when a new spot shows up)Exactly have i set the first of march as start of my twitching odyssee also, so we will celebrate the same day, you are just 8 years ahead :)You're words are so true, I wish everyone who is in fear but 'healthy' would read those.Go on with your lifes, guys!Greetings, LevenLevi

BFSB: when you say you almost eliminated BFS, are you talking about the fasciculations only or also all the other symptoms (muscle soreness, exercise intolerance, painful joints ifyou had any)? Congrats anyhowBy the way I agree that when I see people here saying they have BFS for 10 years but still all their strength, it doesn't sound like a good news if you already understood that BFS is benign, but most often those people also say that they get used to these symptomsand that it does not affect their life quality anymore. So in some way it's a good news!
