Dry Mouth & Swallowing Issues

I am starting to wonder if part of my problem with swallowing is due in part because I don't have enough saliva in my mouth lately. I have read that anxiety can cause you to have a dry mouth. I have been taking a muscle relaxer for the twitches and a side affect is dry mouth also. Right now my mouth is so dry that I can't even get the food (cracker crumbs) off of my tongue. They are sticking to it. Another reassuring thing I have thought of is that someone said that if I did have bulbar symptoms, the swallowing issues shouldn't just come and go. I don't think I could swallow something dry ok one time and not ok the next. Is that correct?I also had some good news this afternoon. The neurologist office called and I can get in next Tuesday. If I end up getting a clean bill of health, I am considering an anti-anxiety medication. I am really sick of going thru this type of thing. Anyone have a good medication that helps with health anxiety? Thanks.

Try drinking warm liquids. Even if it's water, warm or hot water will make it's way around your system better than cold water. This is not medicine, but it helped me when I had that. Also, you can try Milo. The old cereal. Warm Milo tends to give you more saliva. Hope this helps.

Just wanted to post this (again - as I did once before) for you because it relates to people with dry mouth - an article about how common this actually is and if you read on a bit something about Sjogren's (pronounced SHOW-grins) syndrome which can cause this and some neurological symptoms also. It's not that uncommon.
