Does Anyone Else Get Muscle Spasms?

Besides twitches I get these whol muscle spasms, usually when I am relaxed for bed and like the whole top fo the thigh muscle will spasm maybe one time and then maybe 10 15 minutes later another time.. Very fast and upsetting to me more than the twitches. Does anyone else get these?

I don't think there are clear distinctions between twitches, spasms, and cramps. I asked my neuro about this and he said they are different degrees of the same thing--nerve hyperactivity. I do get nerve hyperactivty that moves my muscles and at times they are stronger than others and seem to impact more territory. They have happend on my thighs and along my ribcage. I do not know whether they are correctly labeled "spasms," but it probably does not matter. They grab my attention, are uncomfortable, wake me up, and remind me that something is not right. I do not like them but they happen to me too.

Myabe its a whole muscle twitch as I never have seen them like the other twitches just feel them. Probably do not want to see them but very forceful.

I get cramps, spasms, everything. Went back to my neuro who I trust a lot. He dismissed me and said do not come back unless you have muscle weakness, which you will not have. P.S. Jro you are working so hard to help so many feel better, thanks.

I get these spasms a lot and usually refer to them as "thumpers." I don't know if that is the correct BFS term, but it's when a specific muscle goes crazy for a few seconds every few minutes. I get these in my shoulders, back, abdomen, thighs. They do make me nervous while they are going on, but so far so good. I usually find that if I flex the muscle, they stop for a minute or so.

Twin2,I love reading your description of your symptoms (because I get the same things) and then looking at your beautiful picture. It makes me feel that these symptoms can exist in otherwise healthy and fit people. I'm feeling all my usual twitches today but will go out for a run later with looking as fit as you as my goal. I am getting in better shape every day and have gotten lots of compliments from co-workers, so I guess I'm heading in the right direction.Krackersones

Wow, Krackersones! Thanks for the kind words. I am glad you can get help from my symptom descriptions and motivation from my picture. That's really something! I have to remind myself all the time that I am healthy and capable. It's easy to forget when you focus too much on the symptoms. Just like you I am getting back to my normal fitness routine. I find that I have lost little strength and no stamina or coordination in these long months off. That is certainly encouraging. Anyway--thanks again. It always feels good to know you are of some help.Becky

I get them too. Usually after I have done something to that muscle. After a long bike ride this weekend, th eeback of my left leg was thumping pretty bad today. You know, why don't these twitches grow muscle? I mean really..for all the $hit we go threw, it would be nice to get some muscle tone out of it!!!
