Dodging a Bullet: Elevated Aldolase

Well, according to the specialist, it looks like I dodged a bullet today. After I found out my aldolase level was elevated and my ck in the lower range, I got confused any even more worried.I also had another spell of feeling weak in my arms and legs. I convinced myself that I had lost muscle in all limbs. The fact is, I really think I have strictly because I have not done anything physical hardly at all in the past 6 or 7 weeks. I got an A+ on a full clinical exam and EMG (2nd in 6 weeks). I asked her if she was 99% sure I didnt have ***, she said " No, I'm 99.99% sure". I couldnt have asked for better odds than that. I did end up losing 17 lbs from pure stress, not eating and maybe the calories burnt from twitching over the last 45 days. She didnt use the term bfs, but said the symptoms were benign. It is hard to believe the diagnosis because of how weird and strong all the twitching and churning and pulses going on were, and still are, but I have to believe it now. My wife and sister told me they dont want to hear anymore negative talk from here on. Back surgey has been scheduled for 11-02-09. Hopefully that has been the root cause to all of this. I am so relieved I dont have to break any horrible news to my 11 year old daughter. That has been my worst fear the entire time. P.S. The specialist made the comment "The mind is very powerful, it can cause the body to do a whole lot of unexplained things" If thats the case, it only makes sense that it can be powerful in a productive and healing manner also. Now I just need to believe that. Thanks for eveyones support.

Congratulations!!!! Always nice to read some good news.... my neuro mentioned something similar about the power of mind-body connection.

Great news! We all can empathize with the anxiety you were experiencing. It's practically torture until you get that good news from the neuro. Now you just have to keep on believing that you are fine!

The 1 thing negative that came from the emg was I have carpel tunnel syndrome in my index finger. Probably from clicking my mouse, looking up symptoms. The nuero put me on a new med, Gabapentin, to help me sleep. Tonight is the 1st time I have taken it, about 30 minutes ago, so I'll be hittin the sack in a bit and see how the night goes. I am going to have to figure out how to hit the reset button on my brain. My sister said even though I will feel more at ease about the dxs, it will take the body a while to get back in order, chemically speaking. She is a nurse and has recently won the battle of breast cancer. She keeps driving in my head to think positive, it will make all the difference in the world. We will see....
