Discussing BFS: A Disease or Syndrome?

I stirred the pot recently with my "diagnosed with something already" posts. I want to clarify and hopefully everyone will understand my take. I believe BFS is a disease itself. Whether or not it is not recognised by medical science as a actual disease instead of a syndrome makes no difference. The severity and the complexity of the multiople symptoms is enough for me. Bfs thank God is no where near als. However that does not mean it is not a disease. Someday bfs will be called something else and be its own disease. Then hopefully they will find a cure for it AND more importantly als. So for me PNH is a much truer description of what we have. So to sum it up we have been diagnosed with a disease. PNHDD

Hi I definitely agree that BFS and PNH are diseases. But, there are other diseases with similar symptoms and sometimes things over lap. I am not referring to **S, but things like autoimmune thyroid, lyme disease etc. Sometimes, we have to dig to be sure we are being diagnosed with the right label...and sometimes there is more than one thing going on at a time.Linda
