Depression and Weak Leg Muscles

This is my take on this "feeling" in the back of the legs. Does it seem to come on after thinking negetive thoughts, maybe when you are relaxed? I do not think that it comes from fatigue. I believe that it is a physical manifestation of clinical depression. It will play itself out in many people with depression issues through the muscles. It usually is a weak rubbery feeling that will hang around until one gets busy or really has to do some physical exertion. When one is exerting, all thought is on the task and not on the negetive thoughts, and that is why you don't feel weak and rubbery any longer. Just something to think about. GW

The nervous system is broken down into two distinct pathways:
Sensory and Motor. I would think that the sensations are in fact real
because the sensory impulses are at work while the motor function is working minimally.

Motor function is dynamic. In relaxed muscle there are still nerve impulses keeping the muscle ready for contraction. In other words its not an on off. In fact muscle tone is kept by these minimal motor nerve impulses.

When you active the muscle, I would speculate that activity of the moving muscle dominates the senses and you lose that previous feeling because the brain is receiving stronger stimuli. A muscle contraction will also involve a muscle group opposing the contraction so there is a lot of
"stimuli" to process.

The real question to ask...Do these strange sensations return after you retrun the muscle to a relaxed state? I don't dicount the power of the mind to influence how and what we perceive, but with BFS The entire nervous system (motor and sensory) may be in a hyper-sensative state.

One last thought, blood flow is also dymanic in that vessles are constantly dialating and contricting. These strange sensations may be a result of blood flow? Just speculating...

Good thoughts and insights from everyone!
