Dealing With Unexpected Health Symptoms

Thanks, Basso. I agree, in my "logical" mind I have to imagine this is relatively "nothing" and that I should just go with it. Obviously watch signs and symptoms, but given the onset and total randomness to what I'm experiencing, this really doesn't fit the mold of the nasty stuff.

I think the anxiety and stress of the past 4 to 6 months has effected my body more than I could have ever imagined.

Sorry for the long post above - I guess I didn't realize I had typed a novel the other day. Amazing how the words just flow when talking about something that has consumer your life for so long...

Take care and thanks for the post.

Hi,Im new to this forum too,but have been dealing with this since 2000 ,my symtoms so far from what you described are to a greater extreme ,and for three years I drove my self absolutely nutts!!!! I almost lost my husband over it, I honestly think until you see a neuro and he reassures you, you will never feel better, but then after that you will want a emg, then another and another, thats what happend to me, Ive had 5 ,and a spinal tap. If I knew what I know now 3 years ago I would be different. Please dont stress yourself out ,the first symtoms of als are so much greater that worrying and wasting times not worth it.
educate yourself on bfs, not the other all it will do is cause anxiety, trust me
THanks! Courtney.

Sounds like classic bfs to me.

There is a definite anxiety component to this illness, and the life changes you went through prior to developing symptoms could have been the catalyst your illness.

As to weather you should see a Neurologist or not; I think this is a personal choice. My doctor didn’t think that I needed to see a neurologist but I persisted and eventually I saw four.

I didn’t really develop piece of mind until I took it into my heart that I don’t have anything deadly. I still have relapses where I think that they (doctors) could have missed something, I know that this is irrational but sometimes my fear takes over.

If you think it would give you piece of mind then go for it.

Best of luck to you and your family

- Jeff
