Dealing with Twitching:My EMG Story

I agree with your first neuro about the EMG (though I would not hesitate to mention that you went to a second one- if only to demonstrate how anxious and freaked out you are)....and the reasoning is exactly why I haven't had an EMG. I always have quirky results and tests and don't want to add another one to the list.

How long have you been dealing with the twitching now?? I can't remember..

Robert,
Although many neuro's would tell you an EMG is not necessary, it seems that they are very reassuring in that they would rule that out as your problem. It seems like you have the same thing as everyone else here. Like massagefan said, he probably thought by saying 1 in 20, he was being reassuring, but with those of us that get anxious about our health, it's the end of the line. Like others have told me: twitching without weakness is not als, confirm it for your own sake with an EMG if you like.

Thanks alot for all your replies they really touched me!

Trijeff, i appreciated what you said about 24/7 arch twitching being common but has anyone read anything or heard from any neuros that this is the case.

It is the arch twithing that really gets me, when i get a widespread twitch i rejoice but they are few and far between nowadays.

Thanks again and i hope to oneday be in a good enough state to be as supportive as you all have been to others.

Robert,

Just went through six months of not knowing, and ALS was on radar. I failed one EMG passed the other ones. Try not to spend your time in despair and enjoy each day for what it brings. I feel your pain.

Take care.
Eric
