Dealing with Twitching Anxiety

Question for BSF'ers. I'm still relatively new to BSF and twitching and like most of you, am dealing with a lot of anxiety around my twitching. It seems as though there really is no standard for twitching. Some might get 10 a day, some may have them non-stop, several per minute or even several per second like me. I've also seen them described as machine gun, vibrating, single muscle (hot spots), popcorn all over, etc. How many of you have the popcorn like twitches? That is to say, a popping twitch in your shoulder one second, then popping your calf the next, then your back, etc? I get worried because I broke the golden rule and went over to another website and read one person's post about how the popcorn type twitches are characteristic of a more serious disease. So please, someone reassure me if you can. Are the popcorn type twitches common with BFS? I'm letting my fears get the best of me today and I know I need to relax. -Matt

Matt-1. Stop breaking the rules. :p 2. Your description of popcorn twitches is definitely a common form on benign twitching.3. Use the search function on this site for "popcorn" and see how many posts come up...I bet you'll find some reassurance there as well.4. Personally, I've had many a popcorn twitch in addition to many other types. I notice the popcorn ones especially after physical exertion, but also randomly. No worries.

Hey matt, I remember 2 years ago driving around house hunting and I kept saying to my husband I swear I feal like popcorn allover my body. My muscles were just a popping, I was so wired and freaked out I think my nerves were on FULL SPEED>, So yes for sure get the popcorn fealing. I get that in my arm's, just a pop here and there. great!! now I am FREAKED. I have been dealing with this for a year now. i started with major hotspot in both legs along with random popcorn or hit and run in the rest of my body about 2000+ a day. Now I am at the majority of my twitching is popcorn, exactly as you have described only I am at hundreds a day or less now. either way, this is the first i have heard that its indicitive of something more sinister.......

Tiggida, don't freak! I'm so sorry I wrote that now. I actually emailed my neuro about this and he said it was absolutely not true. Do a search for these kind of twitches on this website and you'll fee reassured.

This serves as a lesson/reminder to all of us to stay dilligent in controlling what rumors get spread around this forum. If you read something scary on the internet, please do NOT post it on this forum in this fashion. It will cause more fear and harm than good. If this were to happen again, I suggest one of these options:1. Ask your neuro first2. PM a few vets in this community with your concerns3. Pose the question in the forum, but leave out the part about reading something scary somewhere else. (ie: "I have popcorn twitches. Is there anything different or ominous about this?")When I was a newbie, many times did I get setback because of this kinda thing. Lets all try to be understanding in careful about information we share.PS- My intent was not to throw BobJazzy under the bus. I just wanted to keep people aware.

BobJazzy, That's okay, I know you didn't mean to scare anyone. And Johnny is a really cool guy and I appreciate what he has said too and just want you to know he really doesn't mean to "throw you under the bus" and I know that wasn't his intention. I hope you don't feel like he did. He is always there for everyone and has helped me quite a bit. thanks Johhny. I am glad you talked with your neuro about it and he said it wasnt' true. Whew!!!Tanya

Thanks guys. I truly am sorry that I posted that so carelessly. I'm fairly new to this forum and definitely learned my lesson. I don't feel that Johnny was trying to throw me under the bus at all, what he said was absolutely correct.Tanya, I get the popcorn twitches all day long and all over so we're in good company!

don't know if i have the vet-label after three years into this but popcorn-twitches are very very common in pbfs.i had this often at the beginning after onset and experience them often in the morning after waking up.

I just posted about this calling them "popcorn farts". I think until a person puts the sinister disease possiblity to bed and doesn't even go there, we'll tend to be in a constant state of heightened stress and our nerves just wont calm down. Most have been worrying for so long that we actually have forgotten what normal feels like.
