Dealing with Annoying Symptoms & Weakness

I can handle the twitching, I can handle all the buzzing, vibrating, numbness, they are annoying as hell, but you can get somewhat aclimated to them and plug along. My issue is weakness in the leg and arm, this is the thing that has changed my life. I went to one of my daughters soccer games yesterday, was carrying a small cooler on my shoulder, a lawn chair, and I almost had to sit down from the parking lot out to the fields. If I try and run a 100 yards I will start to limp by the end of the run, the muscles in my leg will twitch off the charts, and will take days to calm down to normal twitching. I have real weakness in my arm, if I try to lift anything with some weight to it, I have to compensate with my right arm, my left arm will do some weird stuff with any exertion. I have been told, no way ALS, no way MS, and I am conivince it is BFS. I just dont understand this weakness, it may not be clinical weakness, but these muscles are not what they used to be. Anyone relate to this?

Hi Tom--A year ago, while on jury duty and still convinced my days were numbered, I met a guy who had severe weakness in one arm--couldn't grasp a hammer or a simple hand tool. He also had real atrophy in his hand (no twitching, BTW--I asked! ). Unlike many of us, he apparently doesn't visit Dr Google.Turns out he had nerve impingment in his arm--the ulnar nerve. He had surgery but I don't know the full outcome as the surgery was rather recent at that point--he still had the stitches/staples and had his arm in a sling when i talked with him. But as Krackersones said, could be a lot of other things causing this and is likely completely treatable.Hang in there.Mark

Tom: If you have had prolonged anxiety or stress, then your adrenals could be fatigued and that will cause muscle wasting and muscle weakness. Cindy

i cant feel your weakness obviously but i can tell you that when this all started for me, i couldnt lift a heavy vase and i could barely push a shopping cart in target one day. mine went away. i hope this helps

Thanks for your replies, JRO I have seen a Neuromuscular specialist, twice, and they did confirm twice that I have an advanced carpal tunnel in my left hand, I did recently decide to do the surgery and am waiting to see what will come of it, although carpal tunnel does not usually radiate up the arm into the shoulder, no idea what is up with the leg.Cindy, now that I know nothing pathelogical is going on, I am convinced my symptoms where brought on by prolonged stress and anxiety. I think I pushed myself so hard building my business, that my body finally just snapped, although my symptoms came on gradually. So what you say makes sense, but I just do not understand why is is manifesting itself so prominently in one arm and one leg. Mark, I have seen some posts about the ulnar nerve causing problems in the arm, PlayfulPants I believe had surger for it, I am going to see how this carpal tunnel thing pans out, if the arm continues to worsen, I will look into it, thanks for the advice
