Coping with Long-Term Symptoms

Dear all,As we struggle through these symptoms, I'd like to share a few things that have helped me. While our symptoms may never go away all together, there are a few foods and practices that can really help in the long run. I'm happy to tell you all that my symptoms are at the point where I don't notice them most of the time. I'm not talking about drugs that can make you feel better while you're on them, but rather something that can make you improve in the long run. 1. Eat garlic and ginger. Even if you're not very fond of the taste, garlic can help your nerves and assist in blood flow. The most effective way of taking it in that I found, was to make ginger tea, add one or two slices of cut up garlic into fine peices, boil the tea for a minute in the microwave, and then add lemon juice with honey. It's best if you eat the solids after drinking the liquid. You'll develop a taste for it as time goes by.2. Eat citrus fruit. The old phrase, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away," is more applicable to us than most people, so I suggest you eat two or more citrus fruits a day. These too are good for your nerves, and can help fight off viruses.3. Eat mint leaves and parsley. If you have a garden, or maybe just a few pots at your window, plant some of these things and eat them on a regular basis. I pick a few leaves in my garden every time I water. It's best if you just rinse them and put them in your mouth right after you cut them off. 4. Many of us have exercise intolerance, but there is one form of exercise that we can do, and it works wonders on BFS. It is called Tai Chi. If you're having trouble sleeping, it'll help you sleep better, and you'll feel your nerves benefiting as the days go by. You might try going to an instructor to get started, but I just bought a DVD that showed me how to do it, and once I had the basic patterns in mind I found that I could add my own movements to it. 5. Stay away from alcohol, sugar and caffeine. Most people are fine with these things in small doses, but our nerves are in what we may call a fragile state, so these substances can harm us. 6. Spend your leisure time reading and/or watching comedy. It is imperative to maintain a positive mood, and we all know how anxiety affects us, so this type of relaxation can really help.7. Stay away from pork and beef, especially the fat type. Follow these seven steps for a couple of months and see what happens. Good luck to you all.

its funny because when I am feeling down about my twitches, etc, candy makes me feel better. But I know i should stay away.

I think everyone's general well being will improve following these things! Even beyond BFS.The garbage we put into our bodies and the pride of self importance on what we say and do. Or let me change that. The garbage I put into my body and the pride of self importance on what I say and do. I am the worst I agree in laughter. I think it is so, so important.I just find so much comedy on TV either full of insults between the characters or full of sex references. Finding 'clean' comedy is not so easy.-43RichyThe43rd
