Considering Zoloft for Anxiety?

I am considering going on Zoloft to manage my anxiety. I am having trouble internalizing that this condition is benign. I'll do well for most of the day, then start twitching, then start worrying. I'd like to break this cycle. I'm sure time will help, but I'd love to hear the input of those who are managing axiety with meds. Thanks,Becky

Yep Becky, 45 Days on Zoloft (50mg/Day) it has helped me, I have to admit it , plus a low dose of Rivotril (Klonopin on the States). As my Psych told me, Zoloft should be used at least for a full year, leveling up your serotonin levels takes time. For the side effects, dont worry at all, in my case they were minimal ( dry mouth, mild insomnia) and only for a short amount of time.Zoloft has the great advantage that its FDA approved for :Anxiety + Panic Disorder + OCD Obviously, talk to your Doc and hear his opinion, but Im sure you wont have any problem whatsoever. Hey, thats the purpose of meds, helping you. Adiós Amiga, Un abrazo muy fuerte ( Becky you know some spanish, dont you?) Eduardo

My Spanish sucks! 4 years in H.S. and a semester in college and I can basically just understand a few things. Sad, huh?Thank you for the hug, though (if I understood correctly, lol) and the input. For someone with BFS, you seem mighty sane!Becky

Hi there ~It has only been almost 30 days on Zoloft for me but I think it's starting to make SOME sort of small difference slowly. I saw my neuro again today and she said she could tell a difference from my last visit which was the day before beginning the meds. I take 50mg a day and also began doing therapy once a week. Going to my third session Saturday. I too have my good days and all of a sudden some twitching occurs and voila, I'm back at square one. I hear Zoloft does take some time but I plan to give it a real chance. I was originally placed on it back in January but after 2 weeks, gave up. After I realized I too, have trouble thinking this is all benign, I went back on March 5th. I had some side effects like feeling a bit jittery and felt my paranoia was a bit heightened. I realized after my clean EMG in Feb that perhaps that would help alleviate the surface paranoia at least and to let Zoloft do the trick soooo here I am feeling ok on it and hoping for the best! It also made me lose a few pounds too which I won't complain about! :D) CrazyJace(Marie)

15 days on Lexapro for me and it seems to be having some effect. Well, mentally, if nothing else. It's very heartening to wake up and find yourself thinking, "When the SSRI kicks in, all this will go away. It will all go away. It will all go away." So if nothing else it's having a bit of placebo effect on me. It's nice waking up with some actual hope. And hey, probably not coincidentally, I also seem to be twitching less. Go figure. The drug itself isn't supposed to kick in for another 2 weeks or so, but for the most part the side effects and initial jitteriness have been very mild for me. If you go into SSRIs expecting the worst, you will probably find yourself very heartened to realize that they aren't quite that bad. Yeah they ramp up your anxiety a little at the start, but you just have to realize that's only temporary. It goes away after a couple of days (or weeks). So far so good with the SSRI. I'll let you know in a few weeks when they finally kick in.
