Common Stress-Related Aches/Pains

Hi,

I think everyone gets these. I would say that they are very normal. Even my family members(kids) will mention weird little transitory pains etc- I feel that even stress can especially aggravate or prompt these strange little symptoms, ...anyone under a lot of anxiety over their health will tend to notice many common little sensations and be hyper aware of them. Nothing to worry over :D)

Hi Nick,

Thanks for replying.

Can you tell me more about your nerve pain..where, how it feels(dull, electric-like) duration etc.

I am freaking out with this type of pain and also some funny sensation. The worst part is I also feel a bit of weakness in the affected area. I really think what I have is not only BFS. I mean, most here have twitching and some cramping pain which is what BFS/BCFS is all about. But I am having much more than that.

I also feel fatigued easily. My jaws are stiff and twitches. I move like an old man, especially in the morning. I have some pain and uneasiness when using my hands but still am able to use it. But something is seriously wrongly. I know. I haven't felt like that before all these.

I've always thought "nerve pain" was a strange sounding term, but certainly I have feelings that don't seem like muscle ache, just as you described.

It's so hard to put into words....electrical pain, maybe ? Widespread stabbing ?

It's mostly in my hands and feet, fingers and toes, and I can sometimes feel it "coming on"...it starts at kind of a subtle and deep level and then magnifies.

I wish I could be more help, but it's really hard to put into words. It just doesn't SEEM like muscle pain.

However, I have at least some confidence that one of the drugs I am trying will help a good deal with my pain levels.

edit: one example I have had is that when I put a hand in a pocket, then pull it out, it hurts. This has been going on for 4-5 months. Whatever that is, I don't know. But I have it, virtually every time I put a hand in a pocket. Some days it hurts worse than others.

Hi Nick,

About your example, which part of the hands hurt? Is it in the fingers, palm, or is it at the tendons at the wrists? My wrists area also has this different kind of pain whenever I use them. It's not carpal tunnel or joint pain. Its a pulling sensation. This is on top of the electric shocks on fingertips and palm that I get randomly. I know its hard to describe what you have.

Anybody else who has nerve pain or weird pain? Can you please describe what you have?

Thanks

Constante,

I have had the pain you are describing on and off for a couple of years. I've had it at the top of my hands, in my palms, at the base of my thumb, in the last joints of the fingers, at the tip of my toes, on the top of my feet, and in my wrists along the tendons. Sometimes they all flare up together, or I have one location at a time. The pain can shoot, or it can last a couple of days. These bouts come and go - last a couple of weeks, and then I go months on end before I experience it again...go figure.

Hi J7m,

Was your pain electric needle poking type, stabbing, or deep dull ache ( which normally lasts longer like 20 minutes)?

Other than these obvious pain, do you also have weird sensation in your hand/feet? It's not tingling and numb but a looking-from-top-of-building kind of sensation? Or anything other kind of sensation that you had not experienced prior to bfs?

Thanks

Constante,

All of the above. I have had the eletrical, stabbing and deep aches. Sometimes they last a bit, and other times they are quick and fleeting. As for the "looking-from-top-of-building kind of sensation", I'm not quite sure what you mean.

All this is just part of BFS, and they come and go. The good news is that they are less frequent as time marches forward.

hi there
your post came at a good time, as i am in the midst of another onslaught of wierd things going on, busy times bring these things on. i have had what you are talking about - pins, electrical zaps, the feeling of lightning running through your body, and yes, this is unsettling. last night, after standing, i felt pins and needles in my left foot and lower leg. (anyone else get that???) it left after 15 seconds or so, but that was one long 15 second span. while napping, my hand went to sleep.
i have had three MRI's, which are all normal. i think you have similar things that i have, and i do not fear ALS. Please don't go there, as it is a dark hole, and tough to crawl out of.

Thanks nick, j7m and still anxious,

Felt better that I am not alone in feeling these weird feelings. Bu the tall building feeling is hard to describe and it is not numbness. Well, maybe just have to bear with it and hopes it goes away.

About the pins and needles, I do not have. I thought I had but it was later found out to be buzzing, which is fast vibration at my feet. It feels like pins and needles but is not. I get buzzing often after I walk. Anybody seems to get it more after walking for a long time?

I get sleeping hands when my ulnar nerve get trapped while asleep. I used to get them a lot 3 years or so ago but lately I never get that. Strangely, its only now that I have lots of pain near the elbow area and weird feelings. Could this be the ulnar being damaged after all these years?
