Coming to Terms With Twitching

I was starting to come to terms with my twitching after 13 months... but now this happened...

About a week ago I noticed that my right eye felt irritated...then in the next couple of days I noticed that my right upper eyelid is a little droopy. Not much, but its noticeable.

So of course now im freaking out about MS and ALS all over again and with a vengeance. I keep thinking "WEAKNESS!!! this is it!!!".

The part I can't figure out is if the droopyness is causing the irritation (bad sign) or if the initial irritation was caused by a sty or or infection and then THIS caused the droopyness (good sign)

I am especially worried because I have had some other eye symptoms for as long as I have been twitching. Pinpoint flashes of light that come and go daily. (maybe 5 times per day) and after-image tiny patches (slightly more frequent)

I have an appointment with my Opthamologist for tuesday, but I am seriously scared. I am thinking of having another MRI done to rule out MS. My first one came out normal, but that was a year ago.

ugh...just when i was getting over my fears about this stuff.

Hi:

I am so sorry you're going through this. Have you considered that it might be Bell's Palsy, which is typically temporary & not serious? It is believed to be related to herpes simplex virus, and it is also believed to be related to stress. The facial nerves are affected, causing temporary paralysis.

Just a suggestion, to give you something NOT scary to consider. I wish you well.

thanks I was thinking of bell's palsy but I thought that affected the entire side of the face?

I guess I should get a test to rule out MG, as that seems like a sort of obvious first thing to check.

Im just hoping for a sty or eye infection. lol that sounds funny to say, but the alternatives aren't very good.

same thing has happened to me. i've twitched for 16 months and a friend 1 month ago said man you got a droppy eyelid it's 1/2/ closed. i almost fell down. now i look at my eyelid 100 times a day but my wife swears they've alwsy been like this. 2 days ago my eyuelid was twitching like crazy then yesterday it was my hand now today nothing. its so weird how this comes and goes daily

I concur with StephG22.

In all the literature I've read, it says the eye muscles are always spared (which is why people with als that have lost function over their entire body (including breathing and are on bi-paps) can still use computers by using their eyes (blinking, etc).

Perhaps you have low thyroid function (hypothyroidism). Dry, irritated eyes, droopy eyelids are symptoms of this. There are lots of other symptoms as well, including neurological. Hypothyroidism is easy to treat too.
