I was in the coffee shop earlier, and when I lifted m coffee cup up, my arms were shaking!!! Is this something that others have had?I do feel my legs shake \ vibrate all the time. The only way I can explain it is like someone turning the tap on when you are holding the hosepipe and you feel the water rush through it...anyone?????

**sighs** Yes, in fact, 241 other people have posted about arms shaking on this forum alone. Type "arms shaking" into the search function...you might find some helpful information there. My hands shaking were one of my biggest fears. Turns out, after talking to the neurologist, EVERYONE shakes, even people without BFS. It is VERY common and means nothing if you have had it checked out and were told theres nothing wrong. I also got a cool PM from Alonzo that said he was at a wedding one time & everyone was asked to raise their hands for some reason or another & he said he looked around & the majority of the people were shaking to all different degrees. You said you were at the coffee shop...just FYI...caffeine makes the shakey arms/legs/whole body worse.

My hands shake quite a bit, especially the left, every day. Sometimes my legs shake, but that is usually after some type of stimulant (like COFFEE or nicotine.) I don't worry so much about shaking because, although my neurologist noted it, she did not see it as a symptom of anything sinister.

I just knew you guys were going to pick on old Caffiene...but I was drinking decaf. I have started drinking decaf as I knew I was having too much...I have also started on Vit B complex, Magnesium and Calcium and and also Potassium supplements....just to see what they do.

Oh yes! shaking.....what it really is is some tremors. They are benign but annoying just as the rest of this condtion is. I have found that the "weak" sensation in my legs was actually tremoring and the same in my hands. It is nothing to worry about. Tremors are addressed in BFS in a nutshell and if you plug in tremors to the search engine then you will find a TON of posts on that as well. Nothing to worry about. Of course once we start worrying about it they do get worse ;) Be well,Smooches,Kit

Tremors, especially in the hands and arms, or anywhere else I guess can be out of total fear, anxiety etc. as well. It could or could not have to do with the BFS. If you have anxiety issues I promise you it can be just that. I rememer one time being so nervous before a fight the my whole body was trembling. Obviously once the fight started and I got out of my head everything went away. I also tremble, tremor whatever if I get a chill. Most of the time my hands are steady, but certain things will spark it. A little bit of anxiety and it's all over for me. Heavy exercise, nervousness you name it. If it comes and goes I wouln't worry. If it gets constant or gets worse go to the doctor and have them look at it for your peace of mind. Because I can see a typical cycle here. Started to have anxiety, probably health anxiety about your bfs while waiting in line at coffee shop. You grab your coffee and in the back of your mind your saying god I hope I don't drop this because that would be a bad sign. YOu get nervous grabbing the coffee and your hand trembles a little. Then you say OMG whats happening. A slight bit of panic sets in and your start to tremble even more. Then on the way home, back to the office, whatever you constantly look at your hand. And the more you look at your hand the more it happens. You get caught in a cycle that's hard to get out of. Just a guess, but I am guilty of it all the time. So I am assuming it may apply to you as well.

Were you drinking coffee(caffeine)? Caffeine can cause shaking and jitters. My arms shake when I am really tired and my body is telling me I need to sleep. It goes away after rest. Does yours go away after rest?

You weren't by any chance resting on your 'funny bone' were you? I have found I can induce shaking if I rest on my elbow just so....If you can stop it by a change of position, think about it - couldn't be anything awful and why not just change your position? The leg shaking was happening to me in yoga Monday - *beep* me off - but I've found that if I drop my weight, relax into the ground a bit in the position, it will stop. The object of the game is to not fall over in class  . Granted some in class lose their balance and they have no pnhe ......

You know what's funny? I don't see too many people mentioning "ratcheting" these days. I have that, as well as the tremors. Ratcheting is when the muscles jerk as they move, in an almost "cogwheel" fashion. Those of us who ratchet and tremor with our bfs are often treated to the EXTRA special freak-out about parkinson's, LOL. Of course, the symptoms are VERY different, but in the beginning, we don't realize that. Yup, tremors s-uck. Have them, hate them, but they do get better over time. And I drink as MUCH bl-oody coffee as I so choose, thank you very much! Starbucks triple-shot venti skinny cinnamon dulce latte. YUM!Blessings, Sue

Take a look at Adam, the judge on "So you think you can dance". His hands shake and tremor....but it does not stop him from doing what he wants to in the full light of the camera. I tremor too especially when I get nervous or think to much about it. I can control it with breathing for the most part.
