Chronic Denervation: Good or Bad?

Had a quick question, I have had 2 EMG's that showed chronic denervation in 2 limbs. My question is when there is denervation and no reinervation does this mean it is benign? I remember the doc saying it was good that I had fascilations but not fibrillations? I have what I think is clear atrophy in my forearm and that jelly like feeling in my one arm and both legs but I can still do pullups pushups run etc. I also notice when i use the muscle to say 30-50% I see a lot of rippling in the triceps area in my affected arm. During my neuro exams they have seen diferences between right and left arm however there was NO clinical problems, no babinski, no hyper reflexes. I guess I'll have plenty to ask when I get another EMG in July. By the way if it matters I am a 33 year old male, active duty military. Thanks for all the help and support you all add to those in need.

JDL508,Did your neuro suggest any possible explanations for the chronic denervation in your two limbs or any of your other symptoms? Do your symptoms cause you any discomfort. I have evidence of denervation and reinervation via a muscle biopsy. My EMGs showed no abnormalities. I am a 37 year-old female with sudden onset bodywide twitching 9 months ago. My neuro suggests my problems are autoimmune related. My clinical strength has always tested as normal. I'm going to the neuro again today. Hopefully nothing has gotten worse.Krackersones

Hello, Honestly the neuro hasnt really given me any reason for the chronic denervation. At this point I have had an mri of my neck area and it looked fine, I had an emg around a year ago that was fine and then 3 months ago had another emg with the denervation. I have to admit that the jelly feeling of my muscles makes me fearful. When I say jelly like it is like having the flu when you have muscle weakness but it is still not profound. If it wasnt for that I wouldnt really care about the twitches. My right arm seems to be changing in shape month to month but Im going to just try and stay hopeful until a Dr tells me otherwise. I am scheduled for another emg as soon as I return to the states. My fingers are crossed!! To address your concerns if twitching is your main symptom and you have a clean emg I think you are good to go. I have read about autoimmune disorders / infections being addressed with IViG treatments succesfully so keep your chin up Im sure the doc will fix you up in no time. Ed73, thanks for the reasurance sometimes it feels great to hear that. I'm hoping the doc just says hey, stop being a worry wort :)Good Luck
