Choking on Saliva: Any Advice?

I'm getting this little spritz, (or backsplash?) of what I assume is saliva, in the back of my mouth/throat. Sometimes it makes me give a little cough to clear it. Has anyone had this. Of course, what I want to know is, is this that same as (or start of) choking on saliva? also...just to add to the fun of this...I've been getting a little achy/stabing (not sure I'd call it cramping) feeling in the bottom of my right foot and my left ankle has been getting stiff (not side-to-side but up-and-down).Thanks...Jess

Not new, I'm afraid. The spritzy thing is your saliva duct squirting...cool, eh?The rest is bfs. Go for a walk and watch all the beautiful people and wonder..."do they twitch?" You'll be in good company. :D) Basso

Hi Jess. I was glad to see your post. I have not experienced the exact same thing, but I seem to get a flood of saliva in the front of my mouth making me have to swallow more frequently than normal. Coupled with that is a slight lump feeling in the back of my throat. It is making me nervous all over again. I hope to see some input on these saliva/throat issues from your post. Sorry not to be of help, but know you are not alone in your symptoms and anxiety they cause.

Hi chaos. I get the internal shaking sometimes when I lay on my side. I don't think it is a symptom of anything bad. I also have a dull ache in my left arch right now. I even went to a podiatrist because I thought my arch was falling, but it wasn't. As far as the saliva thing, I have actually choked on my saliva a few times. I think it's something that happens to everyone now and then. For the longest time, I would actually cough up phlegm every single time I ate. I was convinced I had ALS, especially since I sounded hoarse too. Well, as soon as I stopped thinking about the phlegm and choking on my saliva, it stopped. Anxiety is vicious!

Perfectly normal for very stressed people. It is a tad bit of reflux. Again in previous posts Ihave described that acid reflux does not always cause heartburn. It can cause a lump feeling in the throat, the feeling of post nasal drip, it can have a phlegmy cough after eating or a dry tickly cough other times. It can cause that sensation which is actually named "waterbrash" - who knew:) It has NOTHING to do with where your mind was wandering:))) And if your mind keeps wandering there it will get worse because stress exacerbates it. Relax, listen to Basso and you will be quite fine. Oh and by the way - tremors, internal shaking sensations, jerking, feeling clumsy, stiffness and kind of like aches andor cramps in the small muscles of feet and hands as well as other areas as well as burning, tingling, water sensations, etc etc....just this little ole condition:)Be well,Smooches,Kit
