Calves Twitching 24/7: Explanation?

Hey all,

Anybody have any theories as to why calves twitch 24/7 relative to other parts of the body? My doctor seems to think it has to do with the fact that our calves are considered to be the most active muscles in the body. But I still find it an odd phenomenon with BFS.

thanks guys

No answer, not yet. That question is always on my mind. My calves twitching (like popcorn) reach 30 months since fall 2004. Never ever stopped. I have mild cramps occasionally. Oral (sublingual) magnesium supplement helps.

I know what you mean. Mentally it doesn't bother me anymore since this has been going for about 1 year and I got used to it. But its such a strange situation. I've also tried magnesium and other stuff but I can't tell when it works and when it doesn't. Some days I barely feel anything and other days I feel liked I'm plugged into a socket. My doc told me that I should stretch very often which actually seems to help the most. He says he thinks BFS is a change in muscle tone which disrupts the exchange of neuro-impulses with the brain. He thinks this can be fixed through a regiment of stretching combined with rest. We even talked about deep tissue massaging as part of a physical therapy program. But so far I haven't started anything. Basically I don't care about the other random twitching which now only happens a few times during the day. But the calves situation is bit more annoying. Anyway....
