Calming Fears with EMGs?

What would help is doctors that actually call you up and talk to you about the tests you've just had and explained what they mean and tell you what they tested and why they are clean. Instead, they leave you hanging with very little information. "Everything looks good" from a secretary is not doing their job, IMO. I'm sure they would do the same with an ALS blood test. They'd probably make the patient call them for an answer. I'm sure they'll only get better with the ACA. [rolls eyes].

Lol, that arm and hand EMG was fun wasn't it? My neuro is a movement disorder specialist. Well, my ex neuro. Not sure if she was the first available or they thought I needed someone with that specialty. I just was happy to see anyone. I waited 3 months to see her and then 2 weeks before they called and said they needed to push it back 2 weeks. Maybe she had a ski trip planned? Had the first visit and first available follow-up was 3 months later in mid June. Well, a couple weeks ago they did it again. They called saying they had to reschedule but did have a spot open the next day otherwise the next available wasn't for a "long way off". It was too short notice to do the next day. I called them and left a message basically saying "Don't call me, I'll call you". It was obvious they didn't see me as a high priority. Either that or she is busy taping her own show like Dr. Oz.

Mark, sorry to hear you keep getting blown-off by your Neuro. I was a little lucky because although my first appointment was originally scheduled 3 months later, they called me after a cancellation and it only took 2 weeks. The EMG, however, followed about 3 months later. No, EMGs aren't fun but the anxiety it took away was well worth it.
