Calling Neuro: Severe Twitching & Cramping

SOO I called the neuro today. My twitching has been out of control the last few days. I know we have flare ups and I expected this but the facial twitching is back the last couple of days. Last week I had horrible foot twitching HORRIBLE mostly left foot and leg cramps. I was taking Amoxicillin and I looked back in my journal and saw that this happened when I took amoxicillin back in May. Cramping and foot twitching. Totally forgot. Now back to the face twitching. My eye went out of control as well as my jaw. Said Ok.... this is just BFS and went on. Well this morning my tongue went CRAZY. I ran to the mirror and saw the pulsing of the middle left section on my tongue. IT was fluttering horizontally from the middle of my tongue to the edge of my tongue. Went back to sit down and my right side did it for a second. I called him and told the nurse what happened and she called me back 15mins later and told me to come in at 3:30 today. The saga continues. I didn't think he would call me back in. I thought he would say.... oh its nothing like he did with the lip twitch but no he wants to see me today. I will post later. For those who pray if you don't mind say a little prayer.

TS, I will be here praying for you and your health. I do however feel quite confident that you and your tongue will be fine :D) I promise :D) But yes, please do let the readers know how your visit goes. Many here enjoy you and your posts and I'm sure several prayers will be dedicated to you today :D) Best of luckRobynn :D)

I used to be like you... running the neuro everytime the twitches would flare-up. Now, I could care less. Dont get me wrong, sometimes I would love to find a doctor who could tell me what this is but for right now I quit going to neuros. I am sure you are fine and you will get to a point where you don't care either.

Sorry that you have such a long wait when you go there, I know how miserable it can feel just sitting in that waiting room, stressing over what you will feel like when you are leaving that appt. Keep your head and spirits up, it will be over soon.I'm posting a specific post for tongue twitchers later on tonight, so have a looksie later on when you have a chance, but it will be later tonight.Keep us posted, still throwing prayers and positive energy your direction :D)

Everything is fine. He looked at my tongue a few times and said I was not having MND tongue faciculations. he said those show when you stick out your tongue And I said don't those show up late in the disease. he said yes also tongue twitches only appear late in als And when you're dying. end quote. tongue twitches can be benign in the idea that it will not kill you. he changed my meds And thinks the cold weather caused a flare up. He said this disorder has triggers. sorry for the typos I am on my phone

So happy for you to be told all is well, except one thing...you still have BFS  But you know as well as all of us do, it could be worse.Keep your spirits up, and your twitches will stay down :D) Take Care TSRobynn :D)

Good news, however I assume it was not MND specialist because it is general rule that one looks for fasciculations on the resting tongue, not when stuck out. Probably he meant the quivering caused by fasciculations when the ALS patient stuck the tongue out.Anyway, it is nice to know there are other tongue twitchers who are ok :)

Never experienced the tongue twitch ( thank god...touch wood!!) but pleased for those who get a good diagnosis. Good job- thanks for the insight. Now move on.. ;) cheersRodger

He looked at my tongue in various positions at rest stuck out from a frontal view and then againfrom the side. One thing I thought was odd is he made me close my eyes when sticking out my tongue. I guess I should have asked him why I need to close my eyes.

twitchingstinks: from what you have described your tongue did, I would be totally freaked out - I feel so anxious when I feel single tongue twitch few times per day :D) I envy to all of you who got used to live with tongue twitches.

From one tongue twitcher to another, I know how you felt. Not only is it scary but really annoying too to feel your tongue twitch in your mouth. At least your tongue twitched long enough for your neuro to see it. Mine is so sporadic that when I told my neuro about it, it stopped and she couldn't see it (until I took a quick video on my phone and showed it to her). My guess is that your tongue twitching saga will pass soon...if it hasn't already.
