Bryan's Journey with BFS

Hello all, My name is Bryan and I am a 38 year old male who has recently started experiencing twitching predominantly in both calf muscles with occasional twitching elsewhere. I have read through the "about BFS" section and FAQ's and found all the information to be very helpful. I am very thankful for this site and for those who work hard to keep it going and the content rolling. I have a cousin who was recently diagnosed with ALS and even though I realize genetics is rarely a factor it has me panicked. My question is this....would it be an accurate statement to say if I am able to actually gain muscle mass in the muscles afflicted with the twitching (i.e. my calves) then that would rule out ALS? From what I've read I believe that would be true but would like some other opinions on it. thanks for reading. Bryan

Don't do this to yourself my friend. Obsessing over muscle strength testing is not uncommon for newcomers to BFS. Like any obsessive habbit, it is not helpful. Please instead focus your energy and attention on calming your anxiety, and not by battling it, but by letting it go. You'll likely have much more success by focusing on changing your diet and relaxing than constantly watching and working your muscles, each time wondering if that felt stronger or weaker. You'll drive yourself mad and for no reason. Please don't go there if you can help it.
