BFS vs Syringomyelia: MRI-Free Discernment?

Hey,I would like to know if anyone knows how the docs can make the difference between BFS and Syringomyelia, without IRM. I mean, both can provoke fasciculations and pain.Any idea?

Actually after a bad accident prior to BFS , one should always consider syringomyelia especially when this person never had any somatisation or anxiety/stress symtoms before BFS. We actually had a case here of syringomyelia after a bad bike accident with trauma and spine damage, and it presented very similar to classic BFS. Chiari Malformation and Syringomyela are very very rare events, but far more realistic than ALS or MS when it comes to BFS like symptoms

Well I think I'll go back to see my doc in order to ask for an MRI. I don't see how the horrible pain I'm experiencing for 2 months in my neck and back of my head could be caused by stress. From what I've read over the Internet, twitchings is not a typical symptom of syringomyelia. Some people with SM have twitches but it's not their first symptoms and it does not seem to be bodywide like us. Most often the early symptoms of SM are sensory issues and pain. But SM symptoms can be so different from one people to an otherBut I'm still very scared by this pain in my neck and this pain doed not help me to move on!
