BFS Twitching & Nerve Pains

I have had bfs for 19 months now, twitching here and there, now and then. had a decrease with intakte of magnesiumorotate.what i recently face more again are nerve pains that come suddenly in the arms, hands, feet or mostly in the legs somewhere. it is a very sharp and sudden pain, sometimes just once for a few seconds, sometimes pulsing come and go for minutes. is this something a lot of you are experiencing as well?

I get this too, it is quite bothersome and sometimes quite painful... but its usually very fleeting. Still annoying though :( Most of the time yah just got to bear through it. You could ask your doctor if there is any type of medication for this type of symptom though.

I get some nerve pain in my calf muscles, but for some reason it doesn't intensify. When I cycle I notice slight pain periodically, but it always settles down. My doctor prescribed Amitriptyline about 18 months ago, 10mg per night, but I decided not to take them.Kind regardsDav

This just started happening to me after 15 months of twitching. I have no idea if it's part of BFS or something else. I finally get over the fear of these twitches then this happens. I have a follow up neurology apppointment coming up soon and I will ask the doctor. At least I know I am not the only one with this problem.

Hi LaurentNice to hear from you again. Glad that you are keeping well apart form this nerve pain. It's great that your twitches have reduced with magnesium orotate. I had trouble getting hold of magnesium orotate here in NZ but finally found some a few weeks ago. Initially I had a great response with a 50-75% reduction in fasciculation but the effect has worn off now and I am just back to normal now. As regards the 'nerve pain' I thought I'd let you know that I think that I have recently developed the same although I do'nt know if it is nerve or muscle pain.It came on not long after I started the magesium orotate but I assume that this is just a coincidence. Because I have had BFS for 21 months now I don't even know if this new pain problem is anything to do with BFS but I guess that it is. It is also possible that, as a result of stupid self testing (calf raises, hopping...) I damaged the muscles and that I am now experiencing pain because of this. The pain you describe sounds quite similar to mine - sharp, severe, sudden onset with no warning. It strikes in my feet or calves. Usually it lasts a few minutes but, especially in the evening and at night, it hangs around for hours and can cause sleep disturbance. I find it quite disconcerting and it has even on the odd occasion made my ALS fear come back although that is completely illogical.Hope your symptoms settle down soon.RegardsSimon

thanks very much simon!good to know that you are still there living, eating and drinking tui beer;-)thanks also for sharing my symptom...what a solidarity;-)the nerve pain is a pain in the ass but not so feary to me.with the magnesium orotate i made the experience that when you stop taking it, the fascics will show up again. i also made the experience that sudden hotspots disappear quite quickly when taking an overdose of magnesium aspartate and magnesium orotate.best wishes to nzl (they did very well in south africa, unexpectedly well;-))laurentp.s. @barbie: hashimoto can cause everything we are speaking about in this forum!!!

barbie, it is in Emilyomouse, but the discussion on the Emilyomouse hashi-forum is about nerve pain. hashi can cause nerve pains. seems quite common:

yep get this in my legs ( thighs) and of late both arms.a stabbing pain, last for a few seconds then goes. Quite painful, lucky it does not last for too long.cheersRodger

yes PrickLedPin, sounds very similar to me.....however, i since i take the magnesium and eat a lot of nuts daily the whole thing seems to decrease by 80 percent.

Hi; Just going through some older posts on pain. Here is my pain experience: limited to my right leg, starts suddenly and feels deep inside my quad or hip, it's hard to tell where exactly. I have found that 99 percent of the time, it occurs when I am sitting down, and seems to stop when I stand up, although on only one occasion the pain lasted all afternoon/evening. It is hard to describe, unsure if nerve or muscular. It is always in the same location and it does not occur every day, no pattern at all. It is excruciating pain and it worries me. I have been twitching for 3 months (have EMG lab appt Nov. 9-freaking out about that) and noticed this pain started probably 2 months ago. Any similar experiences?
