BFS Symptoms: Twitching, Jerks, Attacks

I seem to have all of the symptoms of BFS - still waiting for an EMG and MRI next week, but all other tests including neuro exam went well. While my twitching occurs at night b-4 I go to sleep, and I have weeks where other than the twitching I'm generally ok, once in awhile I have "attacks" in the middle of the night where I wake up and my insides are shaking, twitches and jerks are worse. My heart also races. These stronger symptoms continue and I feel awful for 3-4 days - as in almost unable to get out of bed awful. Are these panic attacks? Has anyone else experienced this? These attacks are what really make me sick. I'll learn to live with the twitching, but the attacks really wipe me out. Thanks for your advice.

I did get panick attacks in the middle of the night. The Zoloft I'm on has helped with that big time.

I would wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, have heat rushes up my body, tingling, and would be twitching and trembling. They were so bad I almost went to the ER because I thought I was having a stroke or something. I never had the racing heart though. These lasted a few days. I would get them during the day also, but not to the same degree as at night.

It sounds to me like those are definitely panic attacks you are having. I guess it is not uncommon to have them in the middle of the night when you are asleep. I found that hard to believe at first but now I'm convinced that's what they were. I know a few other people who have had these.

What did your doctor say about them? If he said that they are panic attacks then believe him.

Thanks so much - that makes me feel better. My Dr. initially thought I had pheochrocytoma - an adrenal gland tumor that sends out hormones. Tested neg for all of that but this has been going on for 3 months and I think I'm just getting anxious. BFS seems like a physical disease with many psychological manifestations. This board has been wonderful.
