BFS Symptoms and Diagnosis Help

I have some of the symptoms of BFS and I have not been able to get a diagnosis for 5 months, so I am trying to figure out if this might be me. I have incredible tremors on the inside. There is not much out there about this kind of shakiness, but it seems to be a common thread with many of you. My tremors are ALL over ALL of the time. (Arms, hands, legs, trunk, face, chin, my teeth chatter.) You can't see this, I can just feel it. I can feel them most when I am sitting and trying to relax, when I lay down to go to sleep, and I feel the vibration in my back many mornings when I awaken. I have some twitching that is going on in addition to the tremors. And I have the aches and pains in my muscles that won't seem to go away. Not constant, just when I use my arms in a particular way. The pain is not unbearable, but it causes discomfort. I also have perceived weakness--feels very uncomfortable to raise my arms, like their weak (but they are not.) So I have a lot of the same things that I am reading about here.

Here is my question: My other symptoms don't really fit. I have sensitivity to light and sound. My sleeping patterns are extremely altered since this started. I had incredible insomnia this summer, but the meds have helped this somewhat. My body feels like it is in overdrive when I am not on the meds. My head has a "tinny" feel to it. I feel like I have a head cold, only I don't have the cold. Because I have all these other symptoms, does it sound more and more like BFS is not a possibility or do others of you have similar type stories to share?

I am not worried that this is ALS or MS or any of the other nasty stuff at this point. It's gone on too long and I have no clinical weakness. I have also had tests to rule those out. I also had a lumbar puncture and they tested for Lyme. It came back negative. Is that enough to rule out Lyme? I am feeling like crap most of the time and I would really like to get some relief from my symptoms. It seems that unless they know what it is, I am having a hard time getting some help. New neuro appointment next week, so maybe help is on the way.

Welcome Carol!

I've had all the symptoms you have except the sensitivity to light and sound. I had about three months of insomnia and during the summer I also had the "strange" head feeling and blurry vision. I'll be interested to see if anyone else had your sensitivity problem.

Carol,

This is long shot, but did you take antibiotics before this started in the quinolone class (cipro, levaquin, tequin, amicrobin, floxin, etc.)?
