BFS Sufferers: Twitching Relief?

I'm new to the forum. I have had pretty much non stop twitching for the last 6 months. I've read a lot of posts here about people's symptoms. My question is have any long time bfs sufferers ever had their symptoms completely go away? Or even get to a level with consistent minor twitching level or is this pretty much a life sentence?

I asked this question while at the Mayo Clinic and they said that in all likelihood, this will come and go for life. It may go away completely, however, it is more likely that it will wax and wane depending on certain factors like life stressors, alcohol use, and exercise. It may go away for some period of time and come back (like it did for j_sageurge), or it may go away altogether. The key is just getting our minds to accept this as normal. If it goes away, bonus. -Matt

I have mine come and go. And with go I mean almost completely, down to a barely noticeable level. And then it occasionally comes back, usually with infections.

Does alcohol affect it? I definitely drink daily but when I take breaks from drinking my symptoms don't seem to change. In fact I seem to twitch more when I go on the wagon.

Exercise and drinking make mine worse actually. I think once I stopped focusing on WHEN or IF my twitching will ever stop, I started to feel better. I found that when I focused on it never stopping I would become overwhelmed and super anxious.

I had mine start in January of this year and they were everywhere. I would rate it about at 8/10 with the overall twitching. Once I got over the initial fears of ALS, MS, Parkinson's, etc, and started sleeping a bit better, my twitches have really died down. I still get them on a daily basis, but they are quite infrequent and not too constant. I would say I am now about a 2/10, somedays literally 0/10. Though I do have a constant twitch in my thenar muscle now that will go for days at a time without stopping and moves my thumb in a vibratory motion over and over. THis didn't start until about a month ago. If this would have happened back in January, I would have been freaking the hell out about it.
