BFS & Health Anxiety: My Perspective

Its been a while since I have been here...... I remember the amount of fear that i was in daily and it was a tough time to go through it. The whole expierence definetly changed my outlook on life for the better. Here is my definition of what BFS really is.Most people on this site including myself have or had some form of health anxiety for what ever reason. What i know is, if you research any disease online eventually you will believe that you have it. I can assure you that many people here have thought they had another disease before this one (at least I did). Majority of people can read the internet and take it for what it is worth and seek profeesional opionion, however myself and many of the people here will start searching and start panicking and the more we search...the deeper we get.For myself health anxiety started my BFS and for whatever reason it has not gone away. I twitch daily but I don't freak out anymore perhaps the amount of stress I put myself through during my freak out days messed up my nervous system a little bit and it may be perminent....but i am OK with that now.I know for all the newbies there can never be enough reassurance and you will continue to seek it until you are over this phase. This site has some AMAZING people on it that spend their free time helping others so Thanks to all of you guys....My advise is eventually you will get over this but first step would be to sit down and really look at yourself....Do you think that you have health anxity?? Is this the first time you thought you had an illness? If you answered yes, and no Reassurance will not help (only temporarily) you need to seek professional help to move on.There some good books out there.. I read a couple (don't remember the name off hand) if anyone wants to know the name let me know and I will post them. Now the good part of what you are going through...... I have changed the way i live.....After thinking you are dying for so long when you snap out of it you will live a better life. Money is no longer an issue to me, I try to take the best vacations and spend quality time with friends and family. Small things do not bother me at all you will realize how precious life is so PLEASE snap out of it and stop dying and start living.Billy

Great post! :D) Thanks for the advise and I am glad that you are doing better. It's nice to hear from someone who walked away from here and is doing better for it. God BlessRandy

I agree Randy, this is a fantastic post, and I also agree with the OP that this condition does help you to view life with a whole new appreciation. Thanks for the visit and the update.Best wishes and continued healthRobynn :D)

As the saying goes "you cannot truely appreciate the sun until you've sampled the rain". BFS has given me some dark moments, but I do view my life and loves in a more wholesome way.
