BFS Diagnosis Officially Confirmed

I had my last consult with the neuro PA today. She just smiled and said (as I already knew) that the mri and emg were clean and the bloodwork (ANA, CK, etc.) were all negative/normal/excellent. My official dx is bfs. IT'S OFFICIAL NOW!!! She said I could come back in 6 months or a year for a follow up if **I** thought it was necessary. I smiled and said that unless there's a *medical* need to come back I'd prefer not to. That's that! It's time to start living again. I'm going camping this weekend!

Very Nice! Now remember - wear plenty of insect repellent so you don't get bitten by a tick and come back here in two weeks asking about Lyme! :D)

Great news! I'll bet you're on cloud nine! I couldn't wipe the chipmunk smile off my face the whole day after my neuro said all my tests were clean and I definately did not have "it"! I about floated out of the doctors office that day. I'm so happy for you!

I'm back and the weekend was fantastic. The only thing I noticed was some very slight fatigue in my calves. Other than that, if I twitched much I didn't notice it. In fact, Saturday I ate breakfast twice! :) I'm sure I gained a pound just this weekend alone. I've noticed some slight leg shakiness yesterday and today and the occasional calf/thigh twitch but I'm not worried about these any more.

Hi Whatnext,

Glad to hear all was well with you! You and I have been pretty much in lockstep with our timing and problems. :) As you know, I got very similar good news, so I know how good you feel. Let's both try to keep it that way and focus on living life again. I laughed a lot tonight watching TV, which I haven't done for awhile.

I still feel mild symtpoms, but most I don't at this point. I figure I'm just worn down from all the anxiety and being out of shape. It's time to heal up and get on with life.

Again, excellent news...enjoy it and enjoy life.

I went out for Chinese for lunch with a colleague yesterday, something I've not done since May! Monday I even met my astro classes at the observatory for some (clouded out) observing, something I had to put off twice over the summer due to anxiety and before I knew about bfs. I like feeling "normal" again. My calves still twitch off and on, but it's easier to deal with now. We WILL overcome this!
