Hi all, it has been a few years so that is GOOD news! I just ran across something different. I got a terrible calf cramp on Halloween and it has been sore and tight ever since, almost like a cramp that wants to start up again but isn't. I have read this is part of BFS, but never had the pleasure (LOL) since I began all of this in 2004. Can anyone enlighten me with ideas, suggestions, etc. and share your expereinces with this.It is so annoying and I don't want to start up with the EMG's again as that only fuels the fears.THanks!ariza_z2021

I have had random calf cramps on and off since about 1995. For me, they mainly happen when I am sleeping, and they hurt so much that I immediately have to jump out of bed and walk around. The only thing I have found to prevent them is to stretch the calf a lot. I have also been told to "eat more bananas" since potassium is supposed to help against that.

Mario-Thanks. I know what you mean about those. THe only wierd thing is that my muscle is still so tight after over a week. Have you read about anyone else having this as a problem? It is making me a bit anxious and of course if you do a "search" you find all sorts of goodies you don't need to be reading on the web!ariza_z2021

After I get a sleeping calf cramp, my muscle will be sore for at least 3-4 more days afterwards. Sometimes it will even cramp up again in the middle of the night. And I know firsthand how painful it can be. I have had a root canal before, and I can say that dental drilling isn't even CLOSE to the pain of a night cramp. Good lord. Just keep stretching and massaging the muscle and see if you can make it go away. It might take a while.

Take 1,000 mg of magnesium b4 bed!!! I know this was a little diff situation but it knocked out my cramping legs during pregnancy that would jolt me outta the bed but dont take to much or your stomach will be cramping lol

Ok, my husband is going to pick up some magnesium right now :D) I have been drinking tonic water too but that hasn't been helpful as of yet. The twitching is enough, but the cramping is a whole another dimension.Have a great week!ariza_z2021

Hi ariza_z2021!I have suffered from cramps on and off for the last 14 months, like Mario though they tend to happen at nightime and are so bad that I have to jump straight out of bed and walk around, so painfull! My leg is sore for days after I get a bad one. Dont worry alot of us have the cramps as parts of the syndrome! I swear by a product that is sold here in OZ called Crampeze, it is fantastic a capsule once a day when i have a flare up of the cramping. I have purchased a product similar in the UK when on holiday.Hope this helps!Sandra
